Living in Central Texas is just stupid.
I said what I said. It is 114 degrees today with 80% humidity, and not a cloud in sight. The AC in the studio gave out this morning before one of the biggest shoots we've had all year, and even with a portable AC unit and enough fans to fly us to Europe, it climbed over 90 degrees in there today. I wore Givenchy Gentlemen Only thinking because I would be indoors, but it might get warm, that I would be good, and I'm glad I did. It stayed fresh and clean without being overbearing, and did a great job being a supporting player. Even as i sweat, I still smelled good. It was the last little bit from my 10mL decant, but I have a 100mL bottle on the shelf that I'll start using now. I feel like we are now battle brothers. It has earned it's permanent spot on my shelf. And seriously, if anyone wants to move here, don't. Go live in Wyoming or Colorado or Vancouver. We get like 30 days a year that absolutely perfect, and then the rest of the year we either boil or freeze. I swear to god I'm medium rare. Going to take a share and go to bed early.

SOTD: Elsewhere by Amouage
Happy Sunday, Brotherhood! Today has been a little bittersweet. After an absolutely fantastic trip to Houston, I came home only to find myself facing a $1,750 repair bill on my truck. Sheesh! Definitely not the welcome-home gift I was looking for. Nevertheless, I arose this morning and went into service to give thanks to my Creator. I was reminded that the rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteous alike. Challenges are inevitable, but once again, He saw fit to provide me with a way to overcome. For that, I remain grateful. Now, on to today’s fragrance. My scent of the day comes from Amouage—the highly sought-after fragrance originally introduced as Sinbad and now called Elsewhere. I was told it may be another 8–10 months before it receives a wider release, with availability currently limited primarily to Amouage boutiques. When I smelled this in the boutique, I was absolutely astounded. Despite that rather serious price tag, there was simply no way I was leaving without it. Elsewhere is an olfactory dream. This composition has an incredible mystique about it. It is deep, rich, resinous, sweet, earthy, woody and spicy, with the slightest animalic edge weaving its way through the composition. Interestingly, there is no oud listed, yet at times I get a darkness and earthiness that almost gives me the impression of one. And this fragrance evolves. Hour after hour, different facets seem to rise from the composition. Just when I think I have figured it out, something else emerges. That kind of evolution is exactly what I love about perfumery, and Elsewhere delivers it beautifully. Performance certainly does not disappoint either. Projection is roaringly large, and the sillage is phenomenal—this can absolutely become a room-filler if you aren’t careful. Six hours into the wear, the longevity hasn’t fallen off at all, and the fragrance continues to shift and reveal itself on my skin. This is unquestionably going to become one of the jewels of my collection. Normally, I’d wait until the end of the wear before giving a final score, but there’s absolutely no need today.

Dior Sauvage Extrait
Ok if any fragrance deserves a full group discussion its definitely Sauvage. It is a beloved fragrance to so many of us. It has started many of our journeys. On the flip side there are some strong feelings against it. I have checked the search bar and this has come up a lot but I think we should discuss it as a whole. I want to hear what every one thinks about it. If you haven’t tried it, let me know if you are excited for it or don’t care. Unfortunately you are about to get my opinion on it. Let me start by saying I have liked and loved all versions up to this point including the al forte version. This one, is a hard no for me. It starts with a typical sauvage opening which had me excited, but that lasts maybe two minutes then switches to an oud scent only. Which to me is dirty, slightly fecal and very boring. The first time I had it on skin, I lasted an hour before I washed it off, well tried anyway, it’s STRONG. I like oud, but I want some character, this comes at you like a thug and beats you across the head and shoulders with its blandness. I have tested this multiple times and accidentally left a tester strip in my car. That was a mistake. I think I have tested it 3 times now and am sure I will keep trying to smell it but its not worth the 200 bucks for me. With that being said I applaud a designer house getting crazy and trying to come across more niche-like. I definitely want to see more of that. Let me hear your guys’ opinions. I see a lot of positive reviews from the influencers, but I would rather hear what you say.

@Frank Barnett you know how I feel about brands labeling as things Oud and is absolutely none in this abomination that’s first. The EDT and EdP will always have a place in my heart but this absolutely atrocious. Sauvage for me is a very strong uncomplicated child like composition probably because that’s when I wore it years ago. In short if it’s not broke don’t try to fix it.
