I could think on every line for days and still pull inspiration out of that. Awesome. Did you catch who wrote that? Was it Jocko?
VBPD Heroes Lost: Stay Violent, Stay Strong | Heroic Industries LLC 🚔💪
On Feb 23, 2025, VBPD Officers Cameron Girvin and Christopher Reese were ambushed and killed during a traffic stop by suspect John McCoy II, 42. A routine expired-plate stop turned deadly when he resisted and shot them. At Heroic Industries LLC, we train police, first responders, and tactical professionals to prevail. Expert Matt Good breaks it down: The Incident - Suspect slow-rolled to a dead-end, refused to exit after multiple requests. - Pulled a gun, shot both officers in a tussle, then again as they lay defenseless. - Suspect later found dead, likely self-inflicted; no VBPD shots fired. Tactical Assessment - Warning Signs: Slow to stop, argumentative—he was planning an attack. Non-compliance isn’t passive; it’s a flanking move—time to talk, run, or fight. - Hesitation Kills: Newer officers (5-6 years on) gave too many chances. After one “no,” he’s resisting—legally under arrest. Case law says yank him out. No delays. - Stay Violent: Why no taser? No rip-out? If he won’t exit, force him. Punch, pull, control—violence within the law stops the threat cold. - Stay Strong: Cut off his escapes—verbal, physical, mental. “You’re under arrest” shuts down the talk. Block the run. Force compliance or a fight he can’t win. Psychopaths quit when outmatched. - Win the Fight: Bring it to them. Stay violent, stay strong—blunt their ambush, and you’re going home. Hesitation handed him the edge. At Heroic Industries LLC, Stay Violent, Stay Strong is how we honor Girvin and Reese. We train you to dominate the threat—decisively, legally, relentlessly. #TrainToSurvive Subscribe Now Police, first responders, tactical pros—master the mindset. #TacticalTraining #StayViolentStayStrong

We need more trainers and role models like you all here so this sh*t stops happening to good people. #stayviolentstaystrong
Anyone else been here?
This is surgery number….cant remember…lol When you get kicked and have a surgery illness or other life altering events it is easy to say fuck it I’m done. I’ve worked so hard and now none of it mattered. That’s not the truth. The work you did always matters. It will allow you rebuild faster and better than before. caveat to that is that once you go through this you will not be the same person or athlete. You’re different and need to come up with a different way to train in order to continue to seek growth. Back to the basics back and time to build. What have you gone through in life similar to this?

Definitely been there, and been stuck in my own self loathing afterward like mentioned. Let the dark thoughts get ahold of me after sports ended and pain crept in. Glad to be on the other side of that now, and I wish I had your words in my head then. That mindset is so key. I think for me it was the thought that I'd never be as good as I once was and so it wasn't worth it to try. Crazy to think about now, but the mind plays tricks for sure. Stay after it in recovery, Coach!
Guess what...IT'S NOT JUST LACK OF DISCIPLINE!
Sorry David Goggins and Jocko Willink. It is not just a simple lack of discipline that keeps us stuck. Check this out. Do you agree? Post thoughts to comments:

Well said brother. The language we use and the stories we tell about ourselves are incredibly powerful. We should all be really careful about how we talk to ourselves. Thanks for that reminder!
6/75 Assessment Day: Should You Train When Youre Sick?
Good morning, Heroic Nation. Im not feeling great today, and I know some of you might be in the same boat. It’s cold and flu season—this is how it goes. So let’s tackle the big question: Should you train when youre sick, or take a rest day? Here™s the deal: If lts from the neck up (stuffy nose, sore throat, etc.), you're probably okay to do light movement. if it’s from the neck down (fever, body aches, chills, or digestive issues), take the day off. Don’t t push through its not worth it. Think of training like digging a hole. Recovery is what fills it back in. If youre already sick, pushing too hard will dig the hole deeper, making it harder to recover and prolonging your illness. Take care of yourself first. Weekend Pitfalls and Nutrition: Let’s talk about the weekend. A lot of people do well during the week but let things slide on Saturday and Sunday. a If you’re re eating and drinking 4,000-5,000 calories per day on the weekend, your weekly averages get thrown off. Even if you’re in a deficit Monday through Friday, two days of overeating can erase all your progress. The key? Plan ahead. If you’re re going to have an indulgent meal, make it intentional. Keep the surplus minimal and get back on track right away. Don’t let the weekend undo all your hard work from the week. Group Participation Matters: How do you feel being part of this group versus doing it on your own? The people who stay active in the group are always the ones who do the best. Energy levels and engagement drop if youre not participating just how it works. If you’re struggling to stay on track, consider stepping up your level of commitment. The one-on-one and group programs offer more structure, personalized training calendars, and live coaching sessions to help you stay focused. Let me know how its going for you, and if you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
