What is the more accurate and better FTP or HRV ?

You need durability for 3+hours of racing. FTP is theoretical and can change everyday but where it does matter is what power you can hold after 3 hours of racing or how many matches you can burn during the course of the race on say 1 and 5 minute efforts and still be able to recover and do it again

For me the biggest Aha! moments have been tech related. Cycling in the 80's was a bit different than today. The first head units came out in 1981 but weren't common until 1986 or so and were pretty basic speed cadence and distance. The head units of today are a bevy of information now especially when paired with power meters, HRM and CGM Then Look introduced clipless pedals that was pretty huge such a difference in putting power through the pedals. Bike frames became lighter going from steel to aluminum to carbon. The geometry changed as well. Gearing changes, OMG what a change that has been and continues to be. Electronic shifting I mean man. I'd be remiss in not mentioning tire changes in particular width. I've raced on 19-22mm tires with 120 psi in them. Today I'm currently using 30 and 35 mm and one bike will clear 40mm that is a pretty big change as well and can really change the ride feel
Tight muscles
So i do have a question if anyone can help. I had a total knee replacement this past January and have been cleared to ride. The joint itself is fine but I'm struggling a bit with the quadriceps recovery. Specifically the Vastus Medialis and Vastus Lateralis or the 2 muscles on the inner portion of the thigh from the knee all the way up to where they attach to the glutes. I haven't been able to find a stretch or anything that gives relief to the tightness. I've done loads of quad sets but no real progress.

Yes I completed all the pt and was cleared to resume cycling.

I have almost normal range of motion in knee. I think I'm at 127 degrees of 130 which is plenty for cycling. This is my second replacement so now I have a matching set lol. I can do quad sets i.e. pulling foot up to bum and other stuff without difficulty. The quads took the brunt of the damage this time around and those two have been the slowest to come around for recovery and strengthening

Power meters or riding by feel, what’s better for training? I love my power data, but some just go by vibe! Do you need tech to get faster, or is feel enough?

You'll need a power meter to do workouts like intervals and sweetspot type of workouts that call for specific power outputs. Its the workouts that make you faster or go longer or whatever you are trying to improve.
Tires
I would like to get everyone thoughts on what tires they use and what size. I am currently using Schwalge G-one size 45.

I really like GP 5000 in 30mm but lately I've been using Pirelli PZero Race in 35mm on my road race bike. They have a nice grippy and supple feel to them
