@Peter Dorantes Hey Peter, welcome to the ForCyclers community from Southern California! 👋 Coming back stronger after your biggest crash in 2025 is a huge goal, serious respect for that mindset! Recovery is tough. If you're up for sharing, what kind of injuries did you deal with from the crash? And roughly how long were you off the bike recovering? That time off can be a challenge in itself. Glad you're here and focusing on rebuilding for 2025! 💪

That 'Lightbulb Moment' 💡
I love to ask that to my friends but what Cycling Tip Transformed YOUR Riding? "You know that feeling? You've been riding, learning, maybe even struggling a bit with something... and then BAM! Someone shares a tip, you read an article, or something just clicks during a ride. Suddenly, that tricky climb feels a bit easier, your pacing makes sense, or that nagging discomfort disappears. It's like a little piece of the puzzle falls into place, and your whole cycling experience levels up. What was that 'game-changing' realization or piece of advice for YOU? Was it a tiny bike fit tweak? A new way to think about nutrition? A mental strategy for tough climbs? Or a technique you finally mastered? I'm super curious to hear your stories! Sharing these 'aha!' moments can be incredibly helpful for everyone in our community. Let's inspire each other! 👇

As a former pro basketball player, I thought my leg strength would automatically make me a great cyclist. But I quickly realized cycling is a completely different game. My biggest lightbulb moment was learning how to pace myself, especially on climbs. In basketball, it’s all about explosive bursts, but on the bike, I had to train my endurance and learn to hold steady power. Once I started focusing on Zone 2 rides and higher cadence, everything clicked. Now I feel like I’m finally using my fitness the right way!

@Tim Warner Man, it was a STRUGGLE at first, not gonna lie. In basketball, everything is about quick bursts, sprint, jump, recover, repeat. On the bike, I’d hit climbs like I was going for a dunk, and then I’d completely blow up halfway through. 😂 At first, I thought I didn’t need a coach. I mean, I’d had coaches my whole life in basketball, but for cycling, I figured I could just figure it out on my own. Big mistake. Getting coached by @Rhyss Murty was a total game-changer. He helped me realize that cycling isn’t just about fitness, it’s about strategy. He got me to focus on pacing, especially on climbs, and introduced me to Zone 2 rides. At first, they felt way too easy, but over time, they built my endurance like crazy. Also, he got me using a power meter to keep myself in check. It’s like having a coach on your handlebars, if I saw my watts spike too high, I’d back off. Took a while, but now I can actually enjoy long rides without feeling like I’m dying. Anyone else here struggle with pacing when they started? Or is it just me? 😂
Tires
I would like to get everyone thoughts on what tires they use and what size. I am currently using Schwalge G-one size 45.

Hey Ronald, those Schwalbe G-One 45s sound perfect for your gravel racing, nice pick! I’m rolling on my Canyon Endurance CF SL 8 Di2, so I’ve been using Continental GP5000s in 28mm for road racing, super fast and grippy, but I bet they’d struggle on your Colorado trails, haha. How do the G-Ones handle on rough stuff, and what other tires are you guys loving out there? 🚴‍♂️
