How to Earn More Attention This Week
In my latest Substack post, I asked: If attention is the new asset class, what’s your plan to earn more of it this week? Here’s a practical framework you can use right now: 1. Choose One Channel, One Message - Don’t try to be everywhere. - Pick your main platform (LinkedIn, email, or Substack). - Decide the single idea you want to be known for this week. 2. Hook the Brain, Not Just the Eye Attention isn’t random, it’s driven by dopamine triggers: - Novelty (say something unexpected) - Surprise (break a belief) - Reward uncertainty (hint at what’s coming next) Ask yourself: Does my opening line spark curiosity? 3. Create Micro-Wins Instead of long, heavy posts, deliver one actionable win people can use immediately. Examples might be: - A checklist - A reframe that changes perspective - A quick template Micro-wins = repeat attention. 4. Engage the First 10 Minutes Algorithms reward early engagement. When you post, stick around and reply fast to comments. It signals relevance and gives your content a second push. 5. End With a Pull, Not a Push Don’t shout at people to buy. End with a curiosity-driven question or an invite. For example: “What’s one thing you could do today to capture more attention online?” That opens a dialogue and dialogue is the foundation of sustained attention. Try this framework this week. --> Share your results here in the community. --> Let’s see who earns the most attention with the least effort. My question for you (to kick this off):What single platform are YOU focusing on this week to earn more attention?
