@Xavier Stark that’s 8pm. Anzo said he doesn’t need the hat anymore because it becomes dark very soon when they start the training at 7pm

The club here is like that, the first session starts at 6pm for the U10, 7pm for U11 and U12 and so on until 11pm. We always find it very rush to back home. Anzo needs to be in bed at 9.45pm
A trial of mind of steel
Anzo has been having a tough year this year both from his school and his football club. His classmates keep on bullying him and set him up for troubles, we are so annoyed by these behaviors. And the club first goalkeeper keep mocking Anzo that he doesn’t have to be so hardworking and “work like a horse”, he kicked Anzo’s ball out of the area when he is practicing alone before the start of the team training, kicked his ankles from behind, make fun of his name, hit Anzo’s head and back from behind. It has been rough two weeks for Anzo. Anzo did a great job with courage and bravery. He knows he should not be distracted. He did it so well and I am very proud of Anzo. It seems that the difficult situation is improving. The first goalkeeper came to Anzo to apologize for his past inappropriate act. The school principal is now handling the bullying at school. I’m hoping we have a peaceful year that Anzo can focus on improving what he loves to do, the goalkeeping. Alex

In Portugal, clubs only use small goal for 5-a-side or U7.

@Hadleigh Smith I always talk to Anzo that hardworking is more important than talent, so as healthy food, sleep and being happy. I believe all the goalkeepers are talented, definitely in some areas but not all. Being happy is also very important at his age. It can help him to withstand the pressure from the coaches and teammates.
Advice or Tips please
Can anyone help, my son puts 100% into all his training sessions, make fantastic saves, high dives etc but it seems when it comes to games he forgets all this training and doesn’t execute the things he does in training, it’s frustrating cos he’s very good but sometimes makes silly errors perhaps just sticking a leg out or not diving when in training he’d be all over it, I know being in a game is different to training with nerves etc but what can I do to help him,

And the other things that I will always do is to film the matches and review all the savings or passing (good or bad) together and ask him why you are there, it is a brilliant position, do you think? It is a fantastic reaction, how can you do it? Do you read something from the striker? Or it is a great effort, what if you can change something, what you will change? I think it is quite encouraging most of the time and positive reinforcement to review the slips and push him to re-think again if there are any alternatives. I don’t think it is a magic pill, Anzo and I are working on this. Some of the incidents, Anzo realizes that he can have other options while he has kind of single thought (I am not sure whether it is a tunnel vision or not) during the game. Because we can interpret different things in the same situation.

And sometimes I believe it is difficult to say whether it is right or wrong for that short period of time, the view or the angle from the goalie is very different from the stand, also wether part of view is blocked by the other players. I will keep it open to see whether there are alternatives. Even if we think a low dive or a collapse dive are the better option while Anzo may think that he is not comfortable to do that at that particular moment and he decided to go for a leg save. Then, we may have more content to discuss with the goalkeeper coach offline and to see whether the coach wants to improve the saves at that area or in that particular shooting angles
