I have loved moving images since my childhood, especially Bollywood cinema. I had a great passion to work in the movie industry, so I ran away at 19 from my home in Nepal to work in Bombay, India, in Hindi cinema. There in a big city, I struggled to survive living with isolation and exploitation and finally became an assistant director in many Hindi cinema. Later became an independent filmmaker in my country, Nepal. I also got an opportunity to assist in an American Indie movie, so it's like Rebirth to me, writing a memoir about my passion for cinema, life struggles, and self-discovery.

@Robert Cormican I love history - loved to deal with facts and truth, but it's not easy to research and find accurate sources as history is written by many diffrent people with their own perception. But want to apply it in my memoir, which is hard to recreate. Great effort.

What is the biggest challenge you’re facing right now as an author?
starting, staying consistent, shaping the story, or finally finishing it? Whatever it is, you’re not alone. Every book struggles before it finds its voice, and every writer hits resistance before a breakthrough. Let's share our challenges and find a solution to them

@Chad Sanborn, totally agree, sir. "Flow and pace are best adjusted during the 2nd and/or 3rd revisions." Sometimes, in the first draft, the chapters flow, but many times it does not work that way. Another challenge in memoir writing is the transition and time. I read many memoirs and a few of them had no proper settings or time (neither explained nor shown), I got lost. Thank you.

What’s your #1 author goal for 2026?
New year, fresh momentum. 🎉Let’s set the tone for 2026 together. What’s the one thing you want to accomplish in your author journey this year? It could be big or small: Finish your first draft, publish your book, start (or grow) your email list, get more reviews, sell more books, etc. Drop your goal in the comments — and if you know it, share your next step too (even if it’s a small one). Chances are, someone here has the same goal… and we can all help each other stay on track this year. 🤝📚

@Rich Gomez, I am trying to combine traditional memoir writing with cinematic visual style, so readers should be immersed with me in the Bollywood struggle.😷

@Rich Gomez Thank you for your interest. This is my first memoir and just trying a different approach after reading so many popular/traditional memoirs. Unlike fiction, writing a memoir is hard: writing must be sincere, honest, authentic, with vulnerability and original voice and tone. Must show lived experience rather than tell. I am working on a memoir about my childhood passion for cinema, life struggles, and self-discovery. I was born and raised in Nepal, influenced by Hindi cinema (Bombay/Bollywood), ran away to Bombay to work in films, and after a long struggle, isolation, and exploitation in Bombay, I became an assistant director on many Hindi films. Later, I worked as an independent writer-director on Nepali films and eventually worked as a Production Assistant on an American independent film in the USA🫢 In short: "A boy from Nepal who runs away to Bollywood to chase cinema, survives exploitation and discovers that passion shapes identity more deeply than success."
