Career Adventure/ Career Journey/Career Pathway?
✨ After the amazing Parent Power Hour session on Monday, it got me thinking… 🤔 For years, I’ve used the phrase “career journey” 🧭 because when I worked in the nonprofit space, we preferred it over “career path.” A career path sounds like a straight line from A ➡️ B… and we all know careers rarely work that way anymore. But during Parent Power Hour on Monday, I found myself using the phrase “career adventure.” 🗺️✨ And now I’m wondering if I like that even better. Words carry meaning—both positive and negative. 💭 Journey can feel long or even arduous 🥾⛰️. When I hear it, I picture a trek. Adventure, on the other hand, feels exciting 🚀 full of possibilities 🌟 and open to discovery. What do you think? 👇 🗳️ Vote in the poll and help me decide which one resonates more with you!

@Tonya Davis Career Adventure is the one I like the best since life is an adventure!
✨ The 3rd P: Perseverance ✨
✨ The 3rd P: Perseverance ✨ I want to share a real-time example of perseverance in action—even though I have to keep part of this story a secret for now 🤐 Here’s what I can say… There was a season where my son committed to showing up consistently, even when growth felt slow, even when motivation dipped. He made a decision to create a song every single week. No guarantees. No promises. Just consistency and belief in the process. That perseverance quietly built something powerful: 🎵 a catalog of work 🎵 proof of commitment 🎵 momentum that couldn’t be faked And that body of work? It’s now opened the door to a wonderful opportunity—one that simply wouldn’t exist without all those weeks of choosing to keep going. This is exactly what the 3rd P is about. Not instant results. Not overnight success. But trusting that consistent effort compounds—even when no one is clapping yet. I can’t wait until I can share more… but for now, I hope this encourages you and your kids to keep going, even when the outcome isn’t clear yet. 💛 👉 Where have you seen perseverance pay off—yours or your child’s?

That’s a wonderful story, @Tonya Davis ! I recently completed 30 days of posting on social media and chatting with people on the Zoom app. It was a great experience. I hope to create consistent, positive experiences for our son too.
Networking Support
How do we help our kids/teens/young adults expand their networking skills? I always started out with the question “What is networking?” I often got an answer related to computers. If they don’t know what networking is how can we expect them to take advantage of networking opportunities? I told students I could break down the concept of networking into three words: Building positive relationships. That’s what it’s all about isn’t it? Do we always know where that relationship is going to go? No. But when it’s time for collaboration, connection, or community to manifest those relationships become invaluable. I always gave my students several examples of networking. For instance, I was in a classroom doing a presentation and a teacher told me that she ended up applying for a teaching job at her old school. Guess who was on the hiring committee? Her previous Engish teacher. It was a teacher she loved and had a great relationship with. Do you think she would have gotten the job if she had been a student that disrupted the class or was intentionally disrespectful? Nope. So I always told the students you never know who will be the person to give you an opportulnity. It could be a current classmate, a teacher, a community member. I told them to start thinking of themselves as networking as soon as they stepped out the door to go to their next class. How can you help your child expand their network? I think I’m going to have my son research music production lessons on a couple of platforms. He needs to be working on expanding his circle in that world. If your children are grown how did you help them expand their network? And don't forget to attend our Parent Power Hour at 4pm EST where we will be talking about how your child can be expanding their network. Here is the link

One great way that's free and I believe available to anyone, anywhere, is a group called We've Got Friends, based in NJ. They have Zoom and in-person get togethers every week. For more information, visit: https://www.wgfnj.org/
Coincidence or Synchronicity
Wow! Just had the most amazing conversation with a young artist on the Owwll app 🎨🦉. I hope she joins the community here because her passion for helping others is contagious 💫. By the end of the call, I was almost in tears 😢. She told me she worries about the youth of today, but she now feels better knowing there are people out there who are willing to help them achieve their dreams and passions ✨🌱. Was it a coincidence we were on the Owwll app at the same time, or was it synchronicity? 🔄✨ I truly feel it was synchronicity—we were meant to talk and connect so that we can support the youth of today together 🤝❤️. What synchronicity have you experienced as a parent? Let me know in the comments! ⬇️🗨️

@Tonya Davis What a wonderful story, Tonya! I have experienced synchronicity by being introduced to you by @Jennifer Geigel, also through the Owwll app. That has led to more wonderful connections thanks to this Parent Support Network. Thank you and everyone who is here to help everyone be better parents and have better lives! 🙏
Introduction
Hello you beautiful souls! My name is Tonya and I am supporting my son on his career journey. I thought, surely other parents need help in this area so why not support others along the way? I want to create a community of resources for parents to help their children find their passion and turn it into a career. There are lots of ways to do that which we will explore along the way. I have one biological son at home in high school and his desire is to make music and be a part of the Nerdcore Party Con (NPC) world. Don't know what that is? Just ask! I have two step-children who have pretty much flown the coop and are doing well! Make an introduction post and tell us about yourself, how many kids you have, what are their career interests, or how you can offer support to parents in this community! So excited to be here and I can't wait to get to know you all!

Hi everyone! It's nice to be a part of this group! I'm a NJ-based photographer, author of four books, and inventor of a number of products, including toys and games. My wife and I have a 21 year old son on the autism spectrum. We are looking for more opportunities for him to socialize in our area (preferred) and also via video chat.
