💬 Let’s start an important conversation.
There’s a moment in parenting that no one really prepares you for. Your child starts gaining independence… and suddenly, you may feel a little less connected. Not because you’ve done something wrong — but because the relationship is changing. This is where the 4 P’s framework begins. Not to control our kids’ paths, but to help us stay connected while they learn to walk their own. Over the next few posts, we’ll be talking through each of the 4 P’s together — starting with this shift that so many parents feel but rarely say out loud. 💛 You’re not alone in this. 👇 Let’s talk: What’s one way you’ve noticed your relationship with your child changing as they grow?

Introduction
Hello you beautiful souls! My name is Tonya and I am supporting my son on his career journey. I thought, surely other parents need help in this area so why not support others along the way? I want to create a community of resources for parents to help their children find their passion and turn it into a career. There are lots of ways to do that which we will explore along the way. I have one biological son at home in high school and his desire is to make music and be a part of the Nerdcore Party Con (NPC) world. Don't know what that is? Just ask! I have two step-children who have pretty much flown the coop and are doing well! Make an introduction post and tell us about yourself, how many kids you have, what are their career interests, or how you can offer support to parents in this community! So excited to be here and I can't wait to get to know you all!
Career Adventure/ Career Journey/Career Pathway?
✨ After the amazing Parent Power Hour session on Monday, it got me thinking… 🤔 For years, I’ve used the phrase “career journey” 🧭 because when I worked in the nonprofit space, we preferred it over “career path.” A career path sounds like a straight line from A ➡️ B… and we all know careers rarely work that way anymore. But during Parent Power Hour on Monday, I found myself using the phrase “career adventure.” 🗺️✨ And now I’m wondering if I like that even better. Words carry meaning—both positive and negative. 💭 Journey can feel long or even arduous 🥾⛰️. When I hear it, I picture a trek. Adventure, on the other hand, feels exciting 🚀 full of possibilities 🌟 and open to discovery. What do you think? 👇 🗳️ Vote in the poll and help me decide which one resonates more with you!

What I Wish I’d Had as a Mom
On Monday, I joined the Parent Power Hour call and got a first look at Tonya’s new resource for parents. As a mom of a now-adult daughter, I wish something like this had existed when she was younger; it would have made those years so much easier to navigate. Tonya has created something thoughtful, practical, and supportive, and it’s beautifully structured, making it easy to engage with and actually use. This is the kind of resource that fills a real gap, and I highly recommend it to any parent walking this road.
