Hi Elisabetta! I'm an Educator on the Soma+IQ team. Thank you for sharing what you felt during the session. If an anxiety attack comes up with the more activated breathing, I highly recommend you try to do it much much slower as your body/nervous system builds safety. Focusing on depth rather than speed is more important and can be just as helpful. What is also helpful for many people is allowing for movement; shaking, stomping, pushing, or even vocal release like a scream can help discharge trapped energy before it escalates into a panic attack.
Is it worth attending the 3-day workshop…again?!
Before I ever joined this beautiful Soma+IQ family, my life shifted big time as I witnessed my life falling into alignment during this workshop. I couldn’t express what was happening in my body with words, but I had never felt such a deep truth so clearly. Now after getting to experience virtually the same workshop more than 4 times, I realize every single time I witness something new. Every breathwork journey, every somatic exercise and even the information, although not new to me anymore, it always lands in me differently. My body goes through unique movements of emotion and energy depending on where I’m at in life. Based on what frequency I’m resonating at, I will notice specific pieces of information that other times I might have just heard, but this time it truly sinks into my body. It’s a humbling experience to be fully present in something you “think” you know by heart already. So I highly, highly encourage all of you to attend and participate even if you’ve attended multiple times. At the very least you get to experience a full somatic breathwork session!! This workshop has changed my life and I’m deeply grateful and excited for this! Hope to see you there!
Hi Everyone,
I am so blessed to be a part of this community. I wanted to share that using the breath work helped me to work through an anxiety attack and not run to the Xanax for comfort and relief. It calmed me and gave me a sense of ease. Great feeling.

Breathing styles
What is the difference between breathing out through the nose and out through the mouth? I have a hard time breathing out through the nose.

Hey @Michelle Peterson, if you have a hard time breathing out through the nose you can always exhale through the mouth, no problem... In the context of our sessions, what is most important is to make the exhales longer than the inhales in that second half of the session for down-regulation; that will send a signal of safety to your nervous system activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which will in turn have the desired effect of grounding and integration. Question: Is it hard to breathe IN through the nose as well or only when breathing OUT?
