Hats
I took a recent trip to Australia, and as a result of getting a ridiculous sunburn, decided to make my jump into the world of hats for some protection going forward. Stopped into a local ha shop and found this fedora for a very reasonable price. My first real foray beyond baseball caps and toques. Although I do kind of regret I didn’t pick up an Akubra while I was there — nothing saying I can’t purchase one from home though. This might become an expensive hobby…

Functional But Fashionable WINTER Footwear
I not very hopeful about this, but I thought I'd ask anyhow. Is anyone familiar with a brand that makes fashionable (looks good with chinos, shirt, tie, and overcoat) winter footwear that could meet the following functional criteria: - Warm for up to an hour at -40C / 40 below F - Water resistant - Salt resistant - Can handle trudging through 16 inches of snow - Extra wide widths - Budget Friendly ~ $100 US / $150 CAD Like I said, I'm not very hopeful. I usually carry my good shoes to work in a bag but, because I take the bus, I'm frequently doing things like shopping, going out to dinner with friends, etc on my way home, so I'm not going to be swapping out of and carrying my outer footwear around in those situations.

At those temperatures, I tend to avoid being for an hour. I am also not a fan of boots, so I usually wear a pair of Merrrel’s for walking around in, and if I’m doing something that will require more formal footwear, I wear my leather shoes with Swims overboot galoshes.

@Robert Girardin I hear you, I’m in Ottawa, so I can relate to fluctuating extremes of temperatures.
What to do with phones?
Gents, I have a big phone, and I generally carry it in the breast pocket of my shirt if I’m not wearing a jacket. I’m finding that shirts with breast pockets are becoming more rare. How do you all carry your phones?
French cuff shirts in non-business attire?
I've got 20 or so shirts that I used to wear to work. The shirts have french cuffs on them designed for cuff links. Now that I'm retired, I'm wondering if I can wear these shirts in a non-business setting without looking silly. Not quite casually, but not business either. It's clear that I could still use them in business settings, I just don't have that many to go to now. So the answer will help me determine whether to donate them or keep them. Thoughts?

French cuffs are awesome, whether formal or casual. They also become a canvas for cufflinks — let those determine the formality of the shirt.
Underwear
Just watched Antonio’s video on underwear, and completely agree — long gone are the days of department store crap underwear. I always appreciate Antonio’s recommendations, and am looking to hear other personal experience, either with Silkcut or other premium underwear brands. Like I said, I long ago moved away from the junk — first to MeUndies, then Saxx, and now ManMade has become my brand of choice. Always open to hear about other options if they are available and reasonably priced.
