Osage bow
Just finished modifying my bow. Added lamination to limbs to increase draw weight. Installed string nocks. Made my own quiver also. Just ordered some wooden arrows to complete the outfit.

Nice looking bow. I love Osage bows, they seem to get better looking the older they get.
Hunting scouting
Was out on private land hunting and scouting with snow on ground seeing the trails where tearing up for food. End of rifle season this week then late season starts again after Christmas. It is muzzleloader and archery for 3 weeks. This was interesting only patches with no snow just off some oaks. Bumped a couple does found there bedding. Starting to put some stuff together.

@Jarrod Floyd I love scouting and checking out new areas in the the snow. You can really get a lot of information like that.

šŸŽÆThe One Instinctive Aiming Drill Almost No One Practices (But Should)
Grant Richardson has written many articles in Traditional Bowhunting Magazines and I had the opportunity to speak to him about the "One Instinctive Aiming Drill Almost No One Practices (But Should)"... You don’t need your bow for this. You don’t need a range. All you need is two quiet minutes. The Drill ā¬‡ļø Minute 1: Sit down. Pick ONE spot across the room.Lock in. No movement. No drifting. Minute 2: Raise your bow arm and visualize: Draw → anchor → release → hold. Visualize whatever you shoot - target, 3D, or an animal. The brain doesn’t know the difference between real reps and focused visualization. Why This Works āœ… - Trains focus and concentration - Builds instinctive aiming pathways - Exposes weakness under pressure - Sharpen skills even when you can’t shoot Instinctive shooting is a perishable skill. If you don’t train it, you lose it. This drill keeps you sharp - even off the range. šŸ‘‡ Question for the group: What breaks your focus the fastest when you’re shooting - movement, noise, or pressure? Let’s talk.

Love this drill. I actually used to do this quite often but then kinda of got away from it and forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me of this. I also, on days I can't shoot for what ever reason, I'll grab my bow and draw it several times, coming to full draw and hold it for a bit. Just to get the feel of a good solid anchor.
Too Cold to Hunt …
Well, all I want right now is to get out for some small-game hunting—but Alberta had other plans. It’s sitting at –20°C, and with the windchill it’s more like –32°C. Classic Alberta winter: the kind of cold where even thinking about drawing a bow makes your fingers hurt. So instead of freezing myself solid out in the bush, I’m weighing and straightening my Douglas fir shafts, ordering field points and knocks, and narrowing down cresting designs. Once the weather gives me a break, I’m planning to bare-shaft tune for length. This is my first time building a full wood arrow set, so I figured I’d document the whole process—successes, mistakes, and everything in between—and bring you all along for the ride. If nothing else, it’ll keep me sane until spring. Looking forward to sharing the journey and getting any tips you all have for working with fir. To those out there hunting—Good luck out there!

@Kelsey Holts sounds awesome and thank you sharing your journey. I am thinking of trying to build my first set of "timbers" this winter also. My hunting buddy usually builds them for me but I figured I might as well dive in. Do you have a store bought cresting lathe or did you build one? Because I am also getting ready to try and build that also.

I'm 55 and live in southern IL, just right across the river from Paducah, KY. I've been shooting traditional bows since I was about 18.
