Most attempts at change don’t fail because we didn’t try hard enough...
They stall because something essential was missing — not more discipline, not more information, but something harder to name. Maybe there was understanding without integration.Insight without support. Motivation without safety. Action without self-trust. Looking back can be uncomfortable, but it’s also clarifying. What do you feel has been missing from your past attempts at change or transformation? Share in the comments if it feels right. Naming what was absent often reveals what actually needs to be present next.

The Self Worth trap
Some labels stick harder than facts. When a kid is repeatedly told they’re “bad at school,” “lazy,” or “a problem,” it stops being feedback and starts becoming identity. That’s what makes one early Simpsons episode, ‘Bart Gets An F’ hit hard. Bart is written off as the failure. Over time, he starts to believe it’s not just what he does — it’s who he is. So when he finally puts in real effort and still fails, he breaks down. Not because of the grade. But because it confirms the story he’s been carrying about himself. That’s the self-worth trap:When labels become identity, failure feels like proof, not information. Bart didn’t need a better result. He needed a different relationship with himself. What label did you take on early in life that you might still be living from today?

The Self Worth trap
Symptom & Outcome Matrix - Money
Money anxiety isn’t always about not having enough.Sometimes it’s about what money has quietly been asked to carry for you. Safety. Stability. Worth. Proof that you’re “doing okay.” You might be earning, yet never fully relaxed. Checking your balance more than you want to. Feeling guilt after spending. Second-guessing decisions. And no matter how much comes in, it still never quite feels like enough. On the surface, it looks like a money problem.Underneath, it’s often something else. When self-worth gets tied to income or stability, money stops being neutral. It becomes a measure of safety. And your nervous system stays on high alert — just in case it disappears. The shift isn’t about “having more.” It’s about feeling calmer and steadier with what you already have. Making financial decisions without panic or self-judgement.Letting money be a tool, not a verdict on your value. That shift starts internally. By naming the fear behind the numbers instead of reacting to them. By separating your worth from your bank balance. By creating structure that supports you rather than feeds anxiety. By meeting the real need money is standing in for — reassurance, stability, certainty. This is how you begin to create your path to inner peace with money. I’m curious — and share only what feels safe to you: Which part of this shows up most for you right now?

@Rebecca Martin what do you put it down to?

@Rebecca Martin I meant more how did you become more relaxed? It's great that you're feeling this way, what would make it even more powerful would be to identify how you got here - was it a new thought pattern/habit/behaviour, for example?
