What Would You like To See In The Society
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, As we continue to strive for the betterment and improvement of this society, we want to encourage all of the members to be active and to help build this society. We understand that some came from the previous site and some were present when the Gentleman’s Lounge became The Society Of Ordinary Gentlemen, the purpose of the change was to help build and promote not just a community but a society and and a lifestyle of ladies and gentlemen. There is no set formula to achieve this but there are standards and values that have been present. But we also would like to hear from the members of what you would like to see and topics that you would like to explore and discuss. We would like hear good and positive feedback, we are not looking to hear finger pointing or blaming, or how things use to be. Yes things have changed for the better not to say that things were bad in the past but to better in the ways of improvement. One of the key points we are looking to is host more Society Lounges, and also when a board member is online to open up a live feed, where members can come into the lounge to visit, ask questions , offer suggestions, or just get to know members. So please take a few minutes and give us your thoughts, and what you would like to see. We cannot guarantee that all an ideas will be used, or placed into practice right away. But we will take all of them into consideration. Thank you im advance.

@Al Voss Oh wow! You actually knew him. I thought you were speaking figuratively. Did he always have such energy even off stage?

@Jo Henderson For number 2 and 15 on your list, if not a couple more. He's from Oceana, if you don't already know of him, I highly recommend that you check out Vinh Giang on YouTube. His advice is Gold when it comes to building trust with one's voice
A Story From My Past
In junior and senior highschool I was creative, rebellious and adventurous. I made money by betting on My abilities, not someone else's. In the mid to late 1960s we didn't have 7-11s or any of the chain or franchise enterprises we have today. We had " News Stores" that were basically a modern day 7-11 and a CVS combined but without the pharmacy. And they carried every newspaper and magazine printed. I would bet my buddies that I could go into Nestor's, our newsstore, and steal anything. The guys would bet a quarter or up to a dollar ( good money back then) that I couldn't steal a particular item. I would accept the bets and go into the store. 15 minutes to half an hour later I would emerge from the store and walk around to the side of the building. There I would produce the items. I collected my bets and to their collective dismay would return to the store where I would return what I had stolen. I never explained myself to my buddies. But this would occur at least once a week for five years. What I didn't explain is what my dad taught me: Once you steal You are a Thief. When people learn You are a Thief, you will Never be Trusted. Back then, I couldn't imagine living anywhere beyond ten miles away. I simply didn't want the reputation of a thief. I enjoyed the challenge, the rush, the danger but I didn't sacrifice my integrity in the process. The reason I share this is because an event in my current life reminded of it. At worst please consider it the rambling of an old man with many adventures and memories. Thank you for your time.

Few if any would take it back to the store. That point more than anything else of your story says volumes.
Blast from the Past
Back in the 90s I went to see a movie in a theater. As usual, ten minutes into the movie I walked out. Another lousy flick. Went to a library, bookstore or home. Ten years ago and, I saw the last five minutes of the same movie. Convinced I was right to walk out of the movie years ago. Last night on UTube I watched the entire movie. With delight. I strongly recommend anyone over 40 will appreciate the portentous plot and dialogue. Maybe the older you are the more you will enjoy it. Even younger people may relate. The movie is Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone and a hilarious Sandra Bullock. I admit to enjoying the film, and it holding my interest perhaps partially due to the medical marijuana.

šŸ˜† interesting movie with interesting themes. No physical contact. No foul language. The Harmony of a society that is destroyed by a Barbarian from the past. The only movie I've ever walked out on was Dumb and Dumber. It was too sophisticated for my taste. I've tried to watch it again and Failed.
Introductions
I spot a few familiar faces here! For those who don’t know me, I’ve been part of another online group where I have been learning patiently from those generous enough to share their insights. Each exchange, each observation, has been a small lesson in the art of growth. Along the way, if I can glean something new and pass on something, that feels like progress. Geographically, I have lived as far north as Alaska to Florida. Japan I call home as I've spent more than two decades there. With work I find myself navigating the layered textures of Europe. As my professional life lies in IT, yet that is merely the lens through which I interact with the world, it shapes certain tendencies but never confines the essence of who I am. I look forward to learning and growing with you all here.

@Al Voss indeed this is true. Although I think I should point out that if someone were to let you into their home in Japan, that's a real honor because the home is considered very special as they would more likely take you out to dinner.
