Who is your carrier? Your carrier has it in their system if you choose to utilize SMS. You should be registered in your state as a business ( each state is different) and at least have an EIN even if you are a sole proprietor. I have a carrier that does business phones and they have a form you fill out if you want to send SMS. They are called Ooma and they are a Voip provider. I can use their services on an app on my computer, my phone or I have a desk phone. It did take my a couple days to get approved. You should also wait a couple of weeks after you get your EIN before you register for SMS. Oh, and you need to have a website (at least Ooma requires it) and there is special language that needs to be in your privacy policy and on you contact page. This was passed nationally to cut down on scam text. any questions just ask me. You may also need a specific state registration bond and a security bond if you plan on using text messages in a marketing campaign. However, if you have captured the email from your website and they include their phone number and opt in you do not need the bonds. I also cannot use my SMS for my bookkeeping business for my other businesses. The short answer, yes I have done this. And you would register through your phone carrier.
