I've had 2 different businesses ask me if I do payroll as well this week alone. Is this the universe telling me to add that to my services? Lol. I did get Quickbooks payroll certified, but I'm a tad hesitant to try it as I don't want to mess that up for my clients. Does anyone on here do payroll for their clients? If so, is it difficult to do? How much extra should I charge if I did add that service? Any advice would be much appreciated!

I finely got my first paying client. We are actually using a Property Management Software for her accounting and it is a top software and will give me another skill to market. And she is local, so I am going to her office to help her learn how to use it.

At our firm Busy Bee Advisors we are HUGE fans of Monday. Monday.com is an excellent cloud based software program that we utilize as our internal Project Management tools. It keeps our remote team of 12 connected and allow us to seamlessly transfer tasks from one another and keep communication open between the team. Even if you are a team of 1 Monday can be utilized as your living TO-DO list for your company. Think of something that needs to be completed - add it to Monday. Have an idea - add it to Monday. You get my drift 🤩 Creating tasks is easy and adding any documentation is easy as well. Meaning that when it's work time you simply bop on over to Monday.com and start on a task. She uses the Reviewed Date to keep track of what items and stuck in between the 4 phases (Statements>Reconciliation>Review>ME Report) Billing should also be added as a 5th option as you will use it occasionally. Our process starts on the 1st of each month. All clients are added to Monday. Jules currently has automations set-up for this, however it's pretty easy to do it manually. When new tasks are added the 'Reviewed Date' is set to the 1st. In the case of Statements - so that she knows she has started the task she changes the Status to 'Client Reply Needed'. She has a reminder on her calendar for the 15th to review all of these and send a second request. Keep in mind that if we still have not received statements after the month has concluded (i.e. the task is still sitting there) then we charge a $25 late statement fee PER TASK. It may seem tough to charge a late fee but it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to do our jobs without statements from the client. Time can not be saved on a shelf, once the time has passed it is gone so yes the client has paid for the month but if a client waits 3, 5 or 9 months to get statements to us that creates an issue for scheduling with bookkeepers and I generally will need to bring in an additional bookkeeper to tackle their project.
