What I truly, truly love about yoga is that there are SO many ways to practice , from that point of view, I really have no excuse. 😆
A vigorous, fast-moving asana practice. Working on arm balances or deep backbends. A quiet seated sequence. Or… just sitting still.
Which, of course, for some of us might be the hardest pose of them all. 😂
One of my teachers, Adyashanti, once suggested something beautifully simple: Start with five minutes a day.
Just sit still.
Find a quiet place if you can, choose a time when life asks the least of you, set aside five minutes, and sit. Your mind can throw an entire circus in there 🎪 you don’t have to make it quiet.
Just let your body be still.
I used to approach meditation almost like another chore. Something I should do to be a good yogi
and, in my case, a “qualified” yoga teacher. 🙄
What changed everything was shifting from “I should meditate” to “This is five minutes just for me.”
Finally. Quiet time.
No accomplishing.
No improving.
No performing.
Now those pockets of stillness have become incredibly precious to me.
It almost feels like going on a tiny date with myself. ❤️
So if the heatwave has also cooked your motivation to move… 🔥😂 maybe today’s yoga practice is simply sitting down.
Five minutes.
That’s it.
Give it a try and let me know how your date goes. 😉
