Using the curves in Plasticity to do 2d work
As much as I missed some Bezier functions when first starting to work in Plasticity, I have begun to really like some of the workflow when working with curves in Plasticity. The "smart" guides is one my favorite things about Plasticity and you really feel the pain when you try to work again outside of it without them. But the SVG export from Plasticity was almost useless for anything but basic stuff because it comes in as a 1000 little segments and none of the software I have could boolean them together to make them into closed curves for coloring. So I figured out a workaround after Googling most of the afternoon.
When you go to export your project from Plasticity, make sure all of your curves are selected (I don't think this will work with sheets but I didn't have time to try it) and export as .step. From there, you can import into FreeCAD and from it export an SVG file that is much more workable then straight from Plasticity. There are some caveats on working with FreeCAD and especially when exporting from it. But it's not hard to google that portion either. If I have time at some point, I'll see if I can make a video session of me walking through the steps.
