LOTM Day is Nigh! Sep 25! Aka Thursday!
Hi all! Would you like to plan to post something this Thursday in honor of the day? I've created a new discussion category called "LOTM Day 2025 Tradition." I'm new to this Skool group thing, and we got started just a couple weeks before LOTM Day this year. If you'd like to participate in the holiday, please post your version or even the tiniest snippet in the tradition folder on Thursday. Some ideas that I've recommended to students this week: -Just your five-note-roll -Any 5-note roll practice step -Jig bowing rhythm on one open string -Any part of your A minor scale -A photo of your home viewing set up and snacks to watch Last of the Mohicans Then Friday we start prepping for next year! ;-) Here's a step by step video for practicing five note rolls.

Violin Playspace
It's a small space, in the basement where squeaking and shrieking are muffled, that is, until that day I can emerge and play LoTM...It's now been years... and I'm still in the basement- my student violin #1 - it sounded awful, my uncle's violin - same problem.... so I made a few violins... and they don't sound so good either, sort of like scrapping cats.... Do miracles exist? Is there magic out there that will make this happen? Maybe this shared experience will be the miracle needed to finally climb out of the basement! Looking forward to learning from others who too want to leave those awful cat sounds behind!

Jig Bowing
The five note rolls are fun, but this bowing and rhythm is the heart and soul of this piece. Although I learned violin as an adult, I have a secret advantage in that I played in marching band in middle school. And before I learned this piece I learned about 100 Irish Jigs all with this bowing. This solid rhythm and bowing background helped me play it like I do. If you're new to music in addition to the violin, you just may need to spend a bit more time on rhythm and bowing exercises like this one to get those brain pathways built. It doesn't take forever, but you just need some time to just focus on rhythm without a million things from the tune flying at you constantly. This video is a sample of what you would find to help you within my full membership program, Jenny's Daily Lessons where you never have to wonder what to practice next.

Do you LOTM?
Tell me. Have you worked on this song yet?! If not, do you want to play it? Dougie MacLean wrote The Gael in 1990, and this movie release helped us all know it. That’s why I celebrate LOTM Day September 25. I need your help starting traditions that can endure through the years. 😅🎻🍂
Do you LOTM?
Hello everyone 👋Open question for all?
I’m curious to know what adult learners struggled with whilst learning, I’m 4/5 years into this. - At the beginning of my journey, my left hand didn’t want to rotate to make use of my little finger. My solution was time and practice everyday and found that gadgets didn’t work. - Reading music ( It still a mystery, even with Jenny’s tools), I still need to learn this at some point - Vibrato - enough said - Currently, tapping in time with music and playing. I have put no time constraint on this journey to learn, I’m just enjoying the experience.
