Brief Story - "From Survival to Purpose: A Journey Through Grief, Resilience, and Renewal"
Born in Tampa, I spent most of my childhood moving from one place to another as the daughter of an Air Force father. Life on military bases often felt confining—almost like a prison—but as a child, I didn’t understand that feeling until I began sneaking off base to find freedom and connection with friends. As I grew older, life presented both beautiful and heartbreaking moments. I became a mother of three, but my world shattered when I lost my infant son at just four months old. That loss nearly destroyed me. As a single mother with no formal skills and only a hundred dollars to my name, I struggled to raise my two surviving children, often feeling like I was drowning in grief and hopelessness. There were times I didn’t think I’d make it, even contemplating ending it all.
Now, as an adult, I’ve come to understand just how much unprocessed grief shaped nearly three decades of my life. I want to share my journey—not only the pain and loss, but also the resilience and hope that followed. My story is about survival, starting over, and finally finding the strength to transform my deepest wounds into purpose and healing.
