Just leave
So my life hack for finding yourself recently was to just leave. I inadvertently followed Tyler’s footsteps of going across the world and it was amazing! I made the decision to leave my stress that had been corrupting me in US and live in Europe for a month and it was truly an amazing reset. I didn’t run but instead I left my issues behind and spent time working on myself. Then coming back I realized that how small my problems really were compared to how big the world is. I feel refreshed and like I reignited my spark. So am I saying the solution to everyone’s problems is a Europe trip? No not all but I am saying sometimes the best thing you can do is to leave and take time away for yourself and use it to reflect.
Just leave
If you want to make progress...
It's a lot less about what you START doing and more about what you STOP doing. We love adding. Another habit. Another system. Another 5am routine. Because starting feels like progress. But if you're a high achiever, you already know how to start things. That was never the problem. The real work is what you're willing to STOP: 1. Stop saying yes when you mean no. 2. Stop shrinking your needs to keep the peace. 3. Stop overdelivering to prove you're worth keeping. 4. Stop treating exhaustion like a badge of honor. 5. Stop abandoning yourself to avoid disappointing someone else. Every one of those "stops" feels like loss in the moment. It's not. It's the right investment. You're not losing discipline — you're cutting the leak. You don't need one more system. You need to stop the thing that's draining the ones you already have. What's one thing you need to stop doing — not start — to get back to yourself?
Self-Care Sunday
After 4 days and nearly 40 hours in a vehicle getting from Michigan to California, it is finally time for me to rest. My dad and I drove for 4 days across 8ish states to get me all the way out to LA for the next 10 weeks and I gotta say... we. are. sore. we. are. tired. we. need. self-care. So what do you do? Movement. Eeeeeeasy movement. - - some assisted lunges (using balance or stability so I can just move my body comfortably) - - some toe touches (nothing strenuous. literally hinging over slowly and touching my toes) - - some rotational twists through my entire chain (think of someone trying to wring themselves out like a towel in one direction and then doing it the other way - using a wall helps a ton here) And even more importantly? - Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. We were trying not to stop every hour for bathroom breaks and I know the two of us are very under-hydrated. - Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. Getting back to a sleep schedule will be CRITICAL for recovery. I'm talking bedtimes and morning alarms, fam. ***This entire thread was drafted yesterday but apparently I was so tired I didn't hit "post" !
Friday Facts
1. You’ve survived 100% of your worst days 2. Just because it’s normal to you doesn’t mean it is correct for you 3. Your past is not your prison 4. You are allowed to choose differently 5. Even on your worst days of trying or attempting or getting up, you’re still far better off than not trying at all. What would you add to the list?
