Year 5 Maths is happening in 5 days
11 plus revision- how’s it going?
How many of you have heard this before, "It's only three months away. Just get some practice papers and start revising." Here's what that actually sounds like to your child: "Sit down. Stay there. Do more worksheets." And here's what that does. Creates resistance. Tears. Resentment. And, ironically, less effective learning. Revision isn't about hoarding information. It's about building a system that your child can trust, so they actually want to engage with it. I've sat with hundreds of Year 5 parents who felt lost at this time of year. They didn't know: How to structure the time How to keep their child interested, not just compliant How to tell the difference between productive struggle and overwhelm that demoralises a child. If that's you, you're not failing. You're just missing the map. What's the one thing you're most anxious about when it comes to revision?

Your child's revision won't work unless it's built on these three things.
For Year 5 parents, those who are preparing for the tests this September. 1. A rhythm, not a grind. A structured timetable isn't boring—it's freeing. Your child knows what to expect. No negotiations. No "five more minutes." Just clarity. 2. Mixed practice, not repetition. If they do 20 maths papers, they're training for papers. They're not training for thinking. Mix up difficulty. Mix up question types. Keep the brain alert. 3. Breaks that actually work. A 5-minute walk between sessions isn't wasted time. It's when consolidation happens. When your child's brain goes from overloaded to ready. Here's the thing. Most parents know this. But knowing and implementing are different beasts.

Book Club April : Boy Giant Son of Gulliver
Hello Everyone, Hope you all are doing well !! Finally Spring is in the air. Very happy to see long and bright days. 🤩 The yellow carpet of daffodils 💐all around the city is definitely a sign for better days. Usually when we think of giants 👹, huge monstrous characters are what comes to our mind. There are exceptions like the Genie in Aladdin, Roald Dahl's Big Friendly giant who are friendly and admired by all. I wonder whether babies think adults as giants 🤔? Can a boy be a giant ? But for whom? This is what we find out from this book Boy Giant by Michael Morpurgo. I always admired authors who introduce very serious topics to kids in a way that they can understand. Michael Morpurgo is one of them. Please try to read it before the book club and we can discuss further 😉Spoiler Alert: You would definitely be chanting some words after finishing the book. Also I would like you to think about 1) Giants you have come across 2) Mini characters you admired in stories Title: Boy Giant Son of Gulliver Author: Michael Morpurgo Looking forward to talk to you all Happy Reading 📖
