10 Free Questions to Boost Your Child’s 11+ Comprehension Skills + Final Spaces Left for Revision Bootcamp
Earlier this week, I shared on my main Facebook page that I’d be sending out 10 comprehension questions to everyone who signed up for my email list. If you didn’t get them and would like a copy, just leave a comment below, and I’ll make sure you receive them. This is a little sneak peek into what we’ll be doing during our 3-Day Comprehension Challenge in August. If your child is in Year 4 or Year 5, and you want them to develop deeper thinking and stronger answering techniques, you’ll find the challenge really valuable. We’ve already filled over 35 places, so if you’re planning to join, don’t wait too long! LJ families, you do not need to pay for the challenge, and you already know that! And if your child is in Year 5 and needs more structured revision support, our English Revision Bootcamp is running in August too, followed by the Maths Revision Bootcamp. It’s an intensive, small-group programme with live teaching, timed practice, exam strategy and includes a mock test with feedback. We’ve only got 5 places left, so please book soon if you’re interested. Links to the challenge and both the revision bootcamps are below in the comments. Feel free to comment if you have any questions at all. A quick note to all our Learning Journey families. I'll be emailing you today with details about next year’s programme, mock test plans, and everything else you need to know.

Here’s What One Determined Family Did- Plan, Prep, Mocks etc etc
A parent joined our Year 5 program this month, deciding to aim for one of the most competitive schools in North West London—a school where over 2,500 children take the entrance test. The competition is intense, but what floored me was her drive. I’ve known her family since we moved to the UK 17 years ago, and I was freshly blown away by their determination. No tuition background. Just 4 months to go, while others prep for at least a year. Yet, she’s diving in with a clear plan and laser focus. She didn’t ask what mock tests to book. She’d already done her research. She just needed help choosing the right provider. That’s what focus looks like. For all Year 5 parents: Now is the time to get strategic about mocks. Book mock tests (they fill up fast!) Mock tests are a crucial part of 11+ preparation. They help your child get used to the pressure, timing, and format of the real exam. Tip: Book a few across different months to track improvement—not just one-off tests. Aim for a mix of providers if possible, and secure your spots early as they often sell out! Learn how to analyse results effectively It’s not just about the score. Look at: - Which sections your child struggled with - Time management (did they finish?) - Patterns—are the same question types causing issues? Use each test as a springboard for progress Every mock is a learning opportunity. Once you know where your child needs support: - Adjust your revision plan - Practice weak areas with targeted exercises - Celebrate small wins to boost confidence. Mocks aren’t the end; they’re stepping stones to help your child grow stronger and smarter with every attempt. - - Parents on our programme use our Mock Test Module to break this down with clarity. It’ll help you move from “what went wrong?” to “what can we do next?” Links to the following below

Atom mock tests
Hi everyone, my daughter is trying the Atom mock tests but she is not able to attempt all questions. Around 10-12 questions out of 75 questions she could not attempt because of the time. Is this normal? How is everyone else’s experience, would like to hear from other parents and Sabah. Many Thanks

Thanks Sabah for your response. Appreciate it as always. I think I had gone through the module and will go through again, I will double check. It’s the time largely. She got 50/75 on atom and 12 questions unattempted. Means she actually got 50/63, she knows the concepts and getting matured I would say. Not sure if the timing is rightfully tested on atom as she said it was 8 NVR questions in 3 minutes, which I don’t think is the real exam situation. I was thinking to let her attempt past real papers to find out timing issue, but couldn’t find any real paper to buy or online. Any suggestions please? Thanks again Sabah. Best, Chandra

This made me so emotional
''Thanks for taking the time out to reach out. Very much appreciated. Not easy thing to do. Not much progress but at least we know what’s the syllabus is, what do they need to prepare for. Can’t think of anything to improve upon really as finding the feet for us is more important at the moment and gradually accelerate. But I think you have devoted quite a lot of time and still doing so, I think money can’t pay back that. So again much appreciated and I wish you you all the very best. I think giving back is the best thing people can do in their lifetime which is exactly you’re doing. I also try to do in some or the other way. Please take care of yourself and thanks again.'' I asked for feedback on the programme we started this year and this is what a year 5 parent wrote to me. I am a very stoic person but this made me emotional for so many reasons. 🥲 I want to be able to serve, to help and to do more and do better. ❤️ Messages like these inspire me to do that. 💫 This is a parent who is very cued with their child's learning, is aware of what's needed and if they aren't- always eager to find out and they are my kind of people- giving back in ways they won't speak of because they do it not for praise but because they genuinely want to give back. 🟢 This parent taught me what humility, giving back and appreciating what others do is really about. I am so so thankful to him. 🙏
