Onyx decided to join us early and arrived 8/31 at 3:24 in the morning! My water broke at 10:24 the previous night. We drove an hour and a half to the hospital and I spent the next few hours contracting. Once I was at a 9, Dr was called and we pushed - solid 5 rounds and our perfect little boy took his first breaths. He weighed 7lbs 0.02 ounces and stretches 19 inches. He had a full head of brown hair and the cutest button nose. His eyes are already turning colors so stay tuned for what they end up! We went home the Tuesday after delivery and all was wonderful! On Wednesday we noticed baby was extra sleepy, same with Thursday. Thursday we had a Dr appointment and because his body temperature was low and he was a bit yellow, we were admitted to the hospital. I’m sitting there now. Onyx had critical levels of jaundice - they talked about moving us to university of Kentucky via ambulance. As we waited, he was put under blue lights to help lower the jaundice in his little body. I went from fearlessly crying to holding his hand fiercely praying with all the love inside me. His levels lowered to safe levels and we did not transfer hospitals. They believe an infection in his cord (belly button) caused the low temperature and the jaundice. He’s on antibiotics, fluids, and completed a few days of blue light therapy. He is so strong and brave! He has been smiling and growling at me since we got here and I KNOW he’s going to be ok. Onyx is our greatest gift and I am so honored to be his Momma.
