Addressing Layers of Complexity (Training for Gender Responsive Sober Living)
Course completed simply by printing and reviewing the 12 slides.
Three most interesting facts in the presentation to me included:
  1. Important to shift perspective from "What is wrong with you" to "What happened to you"
  2. TX Providers/Clinicians/Clients require knowledge of resources to effectively assist clients (to me this includes knowledge of local resources)
  3. Clinicians need to understand differences between empathy and sympathy. Empathy is valuable. Sympathy can be harmful. We need to maintain clear boundaries. It is also important to understand difference between behavioral issues and mental health conditions
