Still in the dark Taurus New Moon energy, we’re fast approaching a significant astrological threshold as Mercury is about to enter Gemini and immediately conjunct Uranus, newly arrived in the sign. This is important for several reasons - First, Uranus has only just entered Gemini after years in Taurus. We are standing at the beginning of an entirely new collective chapter surrounding communication, media, technology, transportation, learning, networks, information systems & the human nervous system itself. But what makes tomorrow especially notable is this: Mercury becomes the very first planet to meet Uranus in Gemini. And Mercury is not just any planet here. Mercury rules Gemini. It is the host returning home to greet the new houseguest. Astrologically, first contacts matter. They often set the tone for what is to come. And this first meeting between Mercury & Uranus feels electric, awakening, mentally stimulating & potentially catalytic. You may notice this energy arriving as sudden realizations, unexpected conversations, flashes of insight, strange synchronicities, surprising news, rapid mental downloads, or a sense that something in your thinking is changing very quickly. Dots connect suddenly under Mercury/Uranus transits. Ideas arrive out of nowhere. Conversations shift timelines. And because this occurs immediately after the Taurus New Moon, there’s an especially fascinating contrast unfolding between earth & air. Taurus is a fixed earth sign. At best, they are known for their steady and dependable nature. Taurus has a deep love for stability and comfort. However, the stable and reliable traits associated with Taurus will be compromised with this new Moon, which will be in a partile (exact or less than a degree) conjunction to the malevolent fixed star, Algol. Algol is at 26 degrees of Taurus at the moment. This fixed star is associated with violence and has a dangerous reputation. In astrology, it is even referred to as the “demon” star at times. Algol is connected to losing one’s head – literally and figuratively. For example, one can have a meltdown or a mental breakdown when triggered. Other ways Algol can play out when activated is actual decapitation or an injury to the head (or close to the head). Even Mercury (communication, contract) will be close to Algol during this new Moon.
