I've been MIA
A few years ago, we were behind on our mortgage, car payments and credit. It's hard to admit, since I placed SO MUCH of my business (and reputation) on creating an income from stage. 10 years ago I was on foodstamps. I learned how to speak, and how to sell, and then I started making about a hefty multiple six figures a year. Then, everything changed. I got fired from my job. My stage got taken away - the leads got taken away - and most importantly, my income got taken away. We lived off of our savings for a long time when we started up our own company's We started a med-spa. Then it closed. We bought a nail salon. Then it closed too. Richard and I spent SO MUCH TIME betting on everyone else while we watched our savings get closer and closer to zero. Then less than zero. It was like watching a dumpster fire. Sometimes we can be really stubborn while God is trying to teach us. As we took this picture, it meant more than seeing a magical landscape - it meant we had our freedom back. It meant we had our time back. It meant we had our feet under us again. I'm going to tell you this right now – you WILL crash and burn in your business. Plan on it. Literally save up for it, because it WILL happen. And probably not just once. But you will also FLY. You will have those thank you notes filling up your wall. You will have those vacations that you dreamed about. You will feel the sand in your toes as you kick up on the beach. Success= Consistency+Time This is just your reminder to keep at it.

Speaking of Grief...
Mother's day can be a hard day for some Moms, especially those that have had to bury their children. Amanda is a new friend of mine who shares her story, not of overcoming grief, but leaning into what she calls the "Brutiful" (Brutal and Beautiful) moments that make up our lives. Watch our latest episode here: https://youtu.be/KFthyX0XdPo And take a look at her book here (I finished it in one night and loved it): https://amzn.to/4wkdgTu Thank you Amanda for taking the stage with this message.

I came home from date night with 5 books...
Yes - five. Why is this important to you as a speaker?? Your keynote should have a book version. I know that sounds overwhelming - I'm not asking you to write a 250 page full-fledged memoir or novel (unless you want to *ahem*. @Liz Watt ). What I am saying is that if you really want your keynote to change lives, your listeners will want to take a piece of it home. Do you have your book/ebook done?
