But here’s the thing — our language isn’t just funny…it’s part of what makes our culture so warm, expressive, and uniquely South African.
So today’s value drop for the community 👇
✨ 3 South African sayings that remind us how beautifully we communicate — even when the world doesn’t “get” us:
1️⃣ “Just now”
To others: “soon.”
To us: ANY time between 2 minutes and 2 hours.
👉 The value: It shows how relaxed and flexible our way of life can be — we don’t rush, we flow.
2️⃣ “Robot”
Others: “huh?? A machine?”
Us: “Bru, it’s a traffic light.”
👉 The value: We simplify. We make things practical. We call it what makes sense.
3️⃣ “Shame”
Rest of the world: sounds negative.
South Africans: pure affection, empathy, and softness.
👉 The value: Our language always carries heart.
