Could Your Weirdness Actually Make You Money? 🤔
I've just had a fascinating chat with Rashid Hooda, otherwise known as Mr Weirdo! 😁 Rashid runs Self-Sustaining Life and hosts an event called Get Paid for Being Weird, where he helps people discover how their life experiences, interests and unusual talents could actually create an income. He's even developed a free tool that asks you four questions and helps uncover possibilities you might never have considered. No email address required, no strings attached! We had a great conversation about escaping the rat race, living life on your own terms and why being a little bit weird might actually be your greatest asset. Have a listen to our chat. I certainly came away wanting to discover more of my own weirdness! 😂 Rashid's community Upcoming events

There’s a question for you. 😂 Go and have another look at the last post you wrote about your event, but this time try looking at it as someone who knows absolutely nothing about you or what you do. Would it make you stop and have a read, or would your thumb just carry on scrolling? Sometimes we get so close to what we’re creating that we forget everybody else doesn’t automatically know why they should be interested. So tell them! Give them a reason to want to be there, let them know what they’ll get from it and, most importantly, let a bit of 𝘆𝗼𝘂 come through in the post. Now go and look at yours. 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗴𝗼? 👀

Where The Bloody Hell Is Everyone? 😂
You Can Lead People to an Event… But Can You Make the Buggers Turn Up? 😂 Well, that was the big question at today's Coffee, Chat & Collab! And rather amusingly, several people who voted to discuss getting people to show up didn't actually show up themselves. Oh, the irony! 🤣 We had a cracking conversation, though, with some very useful experiences shared. Chris apparently thinks 3 AM is a perfectly reasonable time to get up for an event but in fairness he is showing up for when his audience is around so he is showing up so his audience shows up. I can assure you, it isn't happening in my house 🫣 because me and 3am dont get along 😂 Chef Andrew shared how simply asking his community which times suited them made a difference to attendance. He also reminded us that an event with nobody watching isn't necessarily wasted. Record it, repurpose it and make something useful out of it. Great advice. Angela shared the frustration of promoting a free workshop everywhere, only to have one person turn up. Something I suspect quite a few event hosts can relate to! But she left feeling encouraged that despite that she is on the right track and to carry on because it does happen. And Rena talked about using scheduling tools to keep event promotion going without having to remember every single post. We also got into some of my favourite subjects: posting and ghosting, building genuine relationships, following up with interested people and actually giving your audience a reason to come. Because putting up one event post and hoping the entire population of Skool will suddenly appear is rather optimistic, don't you think? 😁 Then Chef Andrew introduced us to the wonderful idea of adding a little whimsy to what we do. He's talking about food, of course, but it applies beautifully to events. A bit of personality, something unexpected, a little humour. Stop making everything so terribly serious! We also talked about collaborations, featuring other community members, using short videos and why making friends across communities can be far more valuable than endlessly shouting about your next event.

Why Should I speak for free? 🎤 By Danielle Drew
I was just reading this post over in the amazing Danielle Drews community "Public Speaking - Vocal Power", and I needed to share it with all of you here because this is gold from a lady that seriously knows her stuff. This is one of the most common questions I get.....and I understand.... Your Ego Wants Payment. But... Event Organisers Want Proof The key here is understanding this ...𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮. The skill is learning to recognise the currency. The most valuable things a stage gives you never show up on an invoice. They are... ✅ Proof: the assets. Video clips, photos, and testimonials that show you deliver. ✅ Prospects: the connections with people in the audience who may want to work with you. ✅ Partners: meeting organisers and influential people who can refer you to bigger stages. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒇, 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔. When you're starting out, take the chamber breakfast, the local association, the small podcast. Every stage is reps. It's how you sharpen your message, find your stories, and start building the proof that event organisers want to see. 𝐀𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬, 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥. Once you have strong proof and credibility, you can start choosing free gigs based on who's in the room and which of the three P's they're most likely to deliver. I didn't do it for exposure or leads. I did it because it was a chance to give back to people who serve our community. However I ended up meeting several high-profile politicians who were there to honour the brigade. Partners I never would have met if I'd only said yes to "strategic" gigs.
