When doing a live workshop, how early do you start promoting?

I have a couple workshops I'm planning on testing out (a-la weekend workshops/overnight offers).

I already recorded the ads today, BUT I'm leaving out of town for 3 weeks and won't be able to run the workshop until I'm back due to poor internet connectivity.

I know for webinars, the best time to promote is as close to the webinar as possible with 1-2 weeks out max. Does the same apply to these workshops?

I feel like trying to validate the offer with the workshop ~3 weeks away is a good way to burn adspend, but happy to be proven wrong. : )
