Quick one on avoiding promptabating yourself...
AI has become a black & white box that can theoretically do everything.
The problem hits when you go down the frame that AI MUST do this thing and we outsource everything to AI.
I've caught myself trying to prompt something when I could literally do it myself in 5 minutes.
It actually costs me more time to use AI than not.
And so this is my frame and I'm calling it the 10/90 rule.
Whenever you ask AI to do something, you MUST do the mission critical 10% of it yourself.
Doesn't matter what that is but you must do it.
You can work with AI to do it, that's cool.
But you must be the one creating it.
Then the other 90% can be outsourced.
Perfect example today was when I was working on a new offer doc.
I did the 10% mission critical bit (the top 5-10 lines + the plan for the offer in my own tone of voice).
I then let AI clean up the spelling, make a few great suggestions and do the other 90% I didn't want to do.
This is the way to effectively use AI because it's rare you will one shot something and it will be "perfect"...especially following any sort of creative work.
You'll see it through your lens and you'll hate it.
Work back and forth with it to dial it in.
Get AI to fill in the blanks rather than do the job.
