Does the word DEAD kill the book? Cover feedback needed
Working on the final version of my book cover and I'm going back and forth regarding the weight of the word DEAD. Much appreciated any comment, any feedback before the launch!
I'm showing three variants:
Version A — STOP and DEAD same size (equal weight, reads as STOP DEAD at a glance)
Version B — DEAD smaller (STOP dominates, DEAD recedes)
Version C — the hardcover version
My concern: does DEAD as a standalone word create resistance when it as big as the word STOP?
Tell me honestly:
  1. Which version would you click on as a thumbnail?
  2. Does the word DEAD put you off, is it a deterrent, or does it create curiosity?
  3. Can you tell the genre immediately?
  4. Does any version look like a bestseller, and if not, what's missing
