The Good, Bad and UGLY of a $174,000 Fun Auction
HUGE THANK YOU to @Nick Roberts and @Marcus Karl for this candid interview. They did NOT sugar coat or gloss over the Bad or the Ugly of this auction. Spoiler alert: Everyone still had fun and $174,000 in sales with $50,000 cash collected. There are HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of creators and influencers with 5,000 or less followers on their FB profiles, Insta, YT channels, Email lists, X, Pinterest that could... Use the same EXACT method that Nick and Marcus did. And it doesn't have to be perfect. Why? Because the auction format is SO FORGIVING! Let's make this a LEARNING thread and ASK any questions you may have! Rooting For Ya, Travis PS I double-dawg dare ya to watch this and NOT lose sleep tonight! The WORLD is OURS! At the end... I gave them a tip to bring in another $100k. In ONE WORD. Then I showed them how to cash flow this for $1 million. PPS If you got anything out of this interview and breakdown, please drop some appreciation for Markus and Nick. They really gave this their all and went into detail!

Old Group Warm Up for Auction
Saw where somebody mentioned doing a last comment style auction... Thinking about doing this in a friend's group of like 60k that's kinda died off this year. Creator/influencer space, so easy group to go work in. Do a couple pre-posts for the last comment. Run it for about 24 hours. that should punch the group up a bit. Then a couple days later start the pre-sell for auction. Any holes in my logic? Also welcome to alternative ideas. She's got a bunch of courses sitting in her back pocket we can use and some saas and her time is pretty valuable. Oh, and she offered me 60%, so .... yeah.

🐜"Bootstrapping your way to a carefree income"
Back in the day... E. Joseph Cossman didn't have the internet. But he STILL figured out how to "bootstrap his way to a carefree income." He said on PAGE 2 of his guide... 👉The only way he knows is to get a PROPRIETARY INTEREST in a product or service. This is sooo RONIN! A proprietary interest doesn't mean DOING the service, manufacturing the products or even selling it. EJC took a much HIGHER LEVEL VIEW. He had to rise above the GAME. He had to see beyond being a PAWN of the board... And even beyond being the KING of the board... ...To seeing ALL the pieces and the BIG PICTURE. He would buy rights to plastic molds used for making toys and other things...for a few hundred bucks. Then he'd go put them in "flow" by getting "jobbers" to put them on the shelves in retail stores. 👇He'd always come up with a TWIST - ONE MORE USE for something. 🐜The Ant Farm was used as an educational device in schools. 🤯He said, "What if we make it a TOY?" He got rights (proprietary interest), then lined up manufacturing and distribution and got a piece of the action EVERY TIME an ant farm was sold. He DID NOT go and start working on the factory floor, running the machines. He did NOT go sell onesy-twoesy. He was FINE NOT getting a HUGE PERCENTAGE, but getting a small royalty with NONE of his blood, sweat or tears on it. He let everyone ELSE do that. Sometimes... Because he had FUN doing it... He'd go to tradeshows or run publicity stunts. (He got arrested once promoting his Spud Gun, but that's a story for another day.) This is the RONIN WAY! We must take an elevated view. We are not the pieces on the board. We have the BIG PICTURE, we make sure we get a piece of the action and then we make sure the plan gets executed. If it could be done in the 1900's without the internet... It's like we've got a candy store in the palm of our hands now or something! Rooting For Ya, Travis PS EJC said he NEVER had too much trouble getting folks to give him interest in a prahdukt or service.

WAY MORE PROFITABLE than negotiating PERCENTAGE!
Lemme share something that is a damn sight more profitable than negotiating DOWN a percentage... HOW (and what) you can actually NEGOTIATE UP ⬆️ instead of fighting to NEGOTIATE a % DOWN ⬇️ Plus... Negotiating UP ⬆️ gets IMMEDIATE YESSES to partnering up. Partners LOVE THIS! Like with a red hot LOVE! ❤️🔥 You will love it because it will help you put more deals on the board... ...and make a heap more money! With that said... Context and the deal specifics matter a LOT...I am loathe to give "copy and paste" tactics... But... Here's the foundation: Find out what price they'd be okay with if you were to sell a volume of them. or... If it's one item: Find out the lowest price they'd take and not be mad... Then... (If you feel you can.) You let them know you think you can get more by positioning the offer correctly and in the process of surveying while you're selling the offer... And you ask to keep the amount ABOVE what they want. Here's how it looks in a convo (again, please do not copy and paste for every sitch). 👇👇👇 Me: I see you've sold your SEO course last year for $500. Assuming we could sell 50 or 100 courses in a whack, what would be the lowest price you could sell them for without being mad at me? Them: LOL. I'd really just like to make $10,000 on this campaign, more than I'm concerned about the item price. Me: I see. That helps. If we sold 50 at $200 that'd bring you $10k. I think that's doable. If we sold 100 that'd be $20k. I still think that's not unrealistic given the size of your audience and your reputation. So would you be okay if we offered it at $200? Them: Yes, I'd be super happy if we got the $10k mark and ecstatic if we did a bit more. Me: Cool. So, here's what I'm seeing. I think you may dig this. I think I can tweak the positioning on this offer and get $1k for it. If you're okay with it...Let's sell it for $1k. You keep $500 and my end will be $500. Then we only need 20 sales to put $10k in your bank account and I think that could happen pretty quick. If we hit the 50 sales you'd have $25,000 and if we ding the bell at 100 sales you can take mama on a vacay or something with $50,000. I'm down to do my best to make this happen if you are?
