If you spend some time in this community, you'll find that the importance of getting the proper fit to your garments is an ever-present leitmotif. And here is a good illustration of the concept. I bought this Isaia linen sport coat NWT on eBay for a quite reasonable sum. Even though it was listed as a 46R, both my tailor and the Professor () thought that it looked more like a 46L. I tried to live with it as is, but I could never really feel comfortable in it at that length. The challenge was the patch pockets. They would have to be moved in order to shorten the skirt of the coat and my tailor was afraid that the removal would leave needle marks behind. But I gave him the authority to risk it; he did, and needle marks were not an issue. I think the coat just looks infinitely better shortened by 2 inches. Before and after shots below.
