Good morning, ladies and gentlemen,
I had the privilege of watching the online course called Elements of a Gentlemen. it was probably one of the best online courses I have watched so far. There were so many key elements to this that not only caused me to ponder but to do a little self-evaluation of myself. When it talked about having high standards and not because you think you are better than anyone else but because you set standards by which you hold yourself to. And because of these standards, when a person behaves poorly it is a violation of their own compact that they made with themselves, and when you correct yourself, it is not punishment but accountability to the standards that you set for yourself. And because you hold yourself to this higher standard above other standers around you some might look at you as being snobbish. This hit home for me. because I can remember looking at people that way that they were uppity, or a snob because they acted a certain way and the reality was, they have standards (which I did at some point from being raised by Godly parents) but I chose to ignore them and therefore the standards of these people that I was looking down at ware much higher than mine.
When you are at this level, you police yourself on a constant basis, especially the unseen moments, you cultivate an inner judge that is stronger than the external judgment of those around you. When you are at this level you understand the price, you pay to be this type of induvial and. And one of the biggest one for me, was a person of this caliber corrects themselves before other have to.
We are all here because we chose this way of life and lifestyle, therefore we need to maintain these standers that we have set for ourselves. By doing this we are setting the standards for those around us of what we will and will not accept towards or around us. One of the hardest things for a new person on this journey is caving into the peer pressure of those around us that makes you want to lower your standards to fit in with those around you. Like participating in gossiping about someone, or making fun of someone, or covering up a wrongdoing, and so many more.
I encourage you to take the time and examine where you are on this journey and how you are doing. the biggest thing it to maintain these standards not just when you are around others but also when you are alone by yourself. Do you set your table when you are eating by yourself, do you get dressed fully when your home; do you get fully dressed or do you just throw anything on. One of my favorite bible verses is 2Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Study being a gentleman or a lady to show yourself approved by your actions so that others will see the truth in you on how a real lady or gentleman should act.
