Today my sartorial AI app decided to have me wear my Scottish tie. Given the atypical colors, I have never worn this tie. However, after having an Americana themed outfit yesterday, having one centered on my clan's colors and pattern seemed appropriate. As I have previously noted, my family is from everywhere in Europe. Almost no one married another person of the same country heritage (and I am not exception). Whereas most of my family is bonkers over the Irish ancestry we have, my love of Scotland pushes me to revel in this background.
I am McDougall of the Clan McDougall. (said in my best original Highlander movie voice)
• Odd Jacket — DOJ-002 (John W. Nordstrom): A luxurious beige cashmere blazer with brown horn buttons—the epitome of understated elegance. This single-breasted 2-button jacket features notched lapels, four brown horn wrist buttons, and two rear vents for ease of movement. The full gray/brown lining ensures clean drape, while the slash chest pocket and inner business card pocket provide practical functionality. The cashmere material adds warmth and texture that reads beautifully on video conference cameras—perfect for today's back-to-back VCs.
• Shirt — DS-045 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A CT slim-fit blue non-iron twill dress shirt in a sophisticated Glenn check pattern—pale blue with white and navy intersecting lines. French cuffs with square edges demand executive cufflinks, while the semi-spread collar (5" spread, 2.8" height) provides ideal framing for today's wool tie. The cotton twill construction offers soft hand with excellent stitch density (5/5), and the non-iron finish keeps you crisp through hours of video conferences. ⭐ Tuesday Rule selection—among the items with least cost-per-wear reduction.
• Undershirt — US-002 (Ralph Lauren Polo): A white cotton crew neck undershirt in XL—the reliable foundation beneath the Glenn check shirt. The classic Polo quality ensures no show-through beneath the medium-opacity dress shirt while providing all-day comfort.
• Slacks — SL-003 (Santorelli): Light gray virgin wool and elastin trousers with a subtle texture of tiny lines. These twice-tailored slacks feature a single outward pleat per side, regular cuffs, and a medium drape that falls elegantly without feeling heavy. The break sits between medium and full—appropriate for business settings. The light gray creates beautiful contrast with the beige cashmere jacket while echoing the shirt's cool tones.
• Tie — NT-014 (MacDougall): A wool tie in traditional Scottish family colors—red, green, white, and gray tartan. The untipped construction with no interlining creates a soft, textured knot that pairs perfectly with the cashmere jacket's luxurious hand. At 56.5" with no keeper loop, this is an authentic Scottish wool tie that adds character and warmth to the ensemble. ⭐ Tuesday Rule selection—among the items with least cost-per-wear reduction.
• Pocket Square — PS-029 (Doreen Beads): A gray cotton pocket square (17") with dark green and white windowpane check pattern. The earthy tones complement the Scottish tartan tie while the windowpane provides visual interest without competing. The green echoes the tie's green while the gray grounds the entire look. Presented in a TV Fold (Presidential) for clean, conservative business presentation.
• Belt — B-009 (Nordstrom): A flat dark brown leather belt with thick collar and silver buckle. The rich brown coordinates with the beige jacket's warm undertones and the brown dress shoes, creating a cohesive earth-toned lower half. Good fit and classic Nordstrom quality.
• Footwear — DSh-002 (Stacy Adams): Navy cap-toe Oxfords with round toe and smooth, burnished leather upper. The glued construction with rubber sole provides all-day comfort for desk work and VCs. The navy color adds an unexpected touch that bridges the shirt's navy checks to the lower half while maintaining business-casual formality. Navy flat laces complete the look.
• Socks — DSo-063 (Fort Belvedere): Over-the-calf cotton dress socks in mid-brown with blue shadow stripe. The Fort Belvedere quality ensures these stay up throughout the day, while the brown-blue combination bridges the brown belt and navy shoes beautifully. The shadow stripe adds subtle visual interest without being distracting on camera.
• Cufflinks — CL-008 (Charles Tyrwhitt): Cobalt blue enamel cufflinks with silver T-bar backing, featuring a flat glass-like disc design with spoke details inside. The cobalt blue echoes the navy in the Glenn check shirt while the silver metal maintains consistency with the belt buckle. Required for DS-045's French cuffs and adding executive polish to the VCs.
• Watch — W-005 (Fossil Pearson): A Fossil Pearson multifunction quartz watch with hunter green sunray dial and stainless steel case (42mm). The Miyota quartz movement powers day, date, and 24-hour subdials. The Havana brown leather strap coordinates with the brown accessories while the green dial adds an unexpected pop that complements the tie's green tones. Versatile enough for daily office wear and VCs.
• Pen — P-002 (Montblanc Meisterstück 149): The flagship Montblanc fountain pen in black precious resin with platinum trim, featuring an 18K gold BB nib with rhodium inlay. The piston-fill system holds 2.1ml of ink—currently filled with Montblanc Royal Blue. A leadership-grade writing instrument that signals precision and authority—the quintessential desk pen for note-taking during VCs with Richard Tan, Nils, and Uwe.
• Business Card Case — BCC-002 (Fort Belvedere): A brown bison leather bifold card case with tan quilted leather interior and silver clasp (4.25" x 3"). The patina-developing soft leather backing adds character, while the brown tones coordinate perfectly with today's earth-toned accessory palette.
• Fragrance — FR-001 (Montblanc Legend): A clean, dependable aromatic fougère eau de toilette featuring bergamot, lavender, and pineapple leaf top notes, with oakmoss and geranium at the heart, settling into sandalwood and tonka bean. Moderate projection with 5-7 hour longevity—the perfect office-safe, professional scent for a full day of video conferences. Zero risk, wide appeal.
• Ring — R-001 (Wedding Ring): Platinum band with diamonds. Always worn, always essential.
Color Story: Cool Blues Meet Warm Earths — The beige cashmere jacket anchors the warm palette, while the Glenn check shirt introduces cool blue tones. The Scottish tartan tie bridges both worlds with red, green, white, and gray. Light gray slacks create tonal harmony, while brown accessories (belt, shoes bridge, watch strap, card case) warm the lower half. The windowpane pocket square ties the green from the tartan to the overall composition.
Tuesday Rule Compliance: Two items from the 35 least cost-per-wear reduction incorporated: DS-045 (Blue Glenn Check French Cuff Shirt) and NT-014 (MacDougall Scottish Wool Tie) ✅
