Fun day today. Two interviews, including one where we're expected to finalize terms and one is a lunch meeting. Client meeting where we'll be providing a ton of updates. Meeting with a vendor who hopes to become an employee post expansion (we do too). And a meeting with my financial advisor (that one may not be fun given the market's reaction to events in Iran).
This new to me suit needs to be tailored and tapered but I love the look and its possibilities. The ping-pong of colors throughout seems to work. Blue pin in the suit with navy tie. Pink in the tie with the pocket square and cufflinks. Let me know if it did work!
Outfit:
• Suit — SJ‑012, SL‑021 (Ralph Lauren): A mid‑gray Ralph Lauren suit in a subtle basket‑weave wool with soft notes of light blue and light brown woven into the cloth. It projects confident business formality for VC settings while remaining approachable and visually interesting for an in‑person candidate lunch.
• Shirt — DS‑008 (David Donahue): A classic French‑cuff dress shirt in white cotton with a refined small‑diamond texture and a crisp point collar. The fabric is soft and lightweight, giving you a polished formal frame ideal for showcasing your tie and cufflinks.
• Undershirt — US‑001 (True Classic): A comfortable white crew‑neck undershirt that stays invisible beneath the textured cotton of DS‑008. Its light cotton‑poly blend keeps your torso cool under a suit jacket throughout a 69°F day.
• Tie — NT‑038 (Savile Row Company): A navy silk tie framed with pastel‑pink fleur‑de‑lys motifs, finished untipped for elegant drape. The subtle sheen and geometric regularity create excellent camera presence, while the pink accents introduce a note of warmth for your lunch meeting.
• Pocket Square — PS‑037 (Potomac Tie Co.): A wool pocket square in pink and white static, matte in finish and beautifully textural up close. It echoes the pink in the tie and cufflinks, creating a cohesive, intentional color story the moment someone meets you.
• Belt — B‑011 (Hanks “The Esquire Raised”): A Havana‑brown leather belt with white edge stitching and a clean silver buckle. Its warm brown tone links naturally to your burgundy footwear while maintaining proper business‑day restraint.
• Footwear — DSh‑012 (Johnston & Murphy): Burgundy Goodyear‑welted wingtip Oxfords with tasteful broguing and a subtly tapered silhouette. Their depth of color enriches the gray‑and‑navy palette while still signaling classic, executive dress standards.
• Socks — DSo‑077 (Kirby Allison Sovereign Grade): Over‑the‑calf tan dress socks in fine mercerized Mako cotton with small cream dots. They stay invisible in practice yet quietly harmonize the brown leather elements while preserving your strict standard for in‑person meeting formality.
• Cufflinks — CL‑007 (Purple/Pink Checker): Bold purple‑and‑pink checker cufflinks with a polished finish that reflect and heighten the pink notes in NT‑038. They add personality to the French cuffs without compromising the professionalism of the ensemble.
• Watch — W‑007 (Stührling Skeletal Automatic): A 44mm stainless‑steel automatic with a white skeletal dial and black leather strap. It lends mechanical refinement to the outfit, and the black strap grounds the interplay of gray, navy, and pink.
• Pen — P‑001 (Montblanc 146 LeGrand): Your black‑resin, platinum‑trim Montblanc LeGrand fountain pen remains the quiet icon of leadership and precision in your breast pocket. It subtly reinforces the outfit’s cool‑metal story while offering functional elegance during meetings.
•Business Card Case — BCC‑004 (Fort Belvedere): An oxblood Fort Belvedere bifold card case lined in unexpected turquoise, crafted in smooth leather with clean finishing and a slim, coat‑pocket‑friendly silhouette. The rich red tone harmonizes beautifully with burgundy shoes and deeper suit palettes, while the turquoise interior adds a discreet flash of personality visible only when you choose to reveal it.
• Ring — R‑001 (Wedding Band): Your platinum and diamond wedding band—simple, elegant, and always present. A constant personal anchor in your professional presentation.
• Fragrance — FR‑010 (Roberto Ugolini “17 Rosso”): An amber‑oriental extrait with resinous warmth, spice, and dramatic depth. Used judiciously, it adds richness and mystery to your gray‑and‑navy ensemble without overwhelming colleagues or candidates in daytime conversation.
