Not a fan….

…….of a navy coat with a navy tie. Are they wrong together? No (provided the tones don’t conflict). Let me explain why. Virtually every teenage boy who is wearing a suit or blazer for the first time, who is completely oblivious to constructing an ensemble on their own will have at one point in time combined a tie the same color as his coat. It is the most elementary uninspired combo yet all he can think of. Again not wrong but -yawn. Now admittedly I have seen it done with intention with a great impact. Jimmy Carr, the crude but brilliantly quick witted British comedian obviously has his suits bespoke and perpetually wears a matching tie color to his suit on stage where presumably he is putting the focus on his classic suit and himself.

But as a general rule I try rarely to do it.

But today a client and I who are both Boy Scout adult leaders are meeting another adult to recruit him into an expanded leadership role, so I grabbed my Boy Scout navy blazer (bought at the scout shop it has BSA emblem buttons along with my navy tie my wife bought for me when she and my son went to Florence Italy. The emblem of Florence is the fleur de lis, same as the Boy Scouts. The rest of the OOTD:
