Back from a dude ranch... Some things I learned about fragrances.
So I was off grid... No cell signal. No wifi. It felt like the kind of vacation we used to take twenty years ago... You older guys know what I mean. We actually did things. I actually read a book, sat in a rocking chair, talked with each other, and listened to nature. I left my cell phone in the room because it was only useful as an alarm clock. We didn't ever appreciate how nice our vacations were when we took them decades ago. Anyway, amidst riding horses.... i had some revelations about the fragrances I brought.
First. Bulgari Man Wood Neroli is a crazy good fragrance in the heat. It was the easiest wear all week. If you haven't tried it. Do. Citrus and a little woody, but a lot of fresh soapy neroli. It just smells so clean
Second. Amouage Beach Hut Man is a solid fragrance with great longevity in the heat. Super pleasant green and clean. And it is amazing to layer with either Aventus DNA or bulgari Man wood Neroli. Almost like it was meant to layer with those notes.
Third. Dior Eau sauvage and ADG EDT. Are perfect for the waterside. You know whatever you put on is going to get washed off anyway, so you start with something you know will only last a few hours, then you don't feel the loss so much. I laid it on before and after.
Fourth. I wore PDM Herod during the daytime. But in ninety degree weather it did not make me or anyone around me happy. Herod for cooler weather. It's an amazing fragrance, but it's suffocating in the heat. I thought that tobacco would complement a dude ranch, but no. Not during the day. Maybe in the autumn. So I tried it before bed, but even then tobacco isn't the most comforting in bed ... At least not for me.
And finally, thirty days to get my fire icon. One day to lose it. Here's to starting over.
Glad to be back.
