Learning this started changing how I approach productivity
This Month, I consumed one of the most important pieces of advice ever from the Flow state expert, Rian Doris, it was so good that I ended up consuming it multiple times
The video course was about leverage. Wait, you've probably heard about it, but the real question is, how? Here is a synthesized version of what I learned:
If you think working more hours will lead to success, you’re playing the wrong game. 🚫
In fact, more hours don’t mean more productivity. It’s time to rethink what it really takes to get ahead.
Here’s the truth: Productivity isn’t about hustle. It’s about leverage.
⏳ Most productivity advice pushes you to “work harder,” “hustle more,” or “grind it out.” But that’s not the problem. The real issue is a broken mindset that focuses on input—how many hours you’re working—rather than output—what you’re actually accomplishing.
🔑 Productivity = Output Value / Input Cost
The goal is simple: Get more done with less effort.
But how?
Leverage.
🔧 Leverage is the key to working less but accomplishing more. It’s about finding ways to multiply your efforts, whether through people, technology, systems, or prioritization.
Think about it like this:
✅ If you can land a $10,000 deal in 30 hours, you're more productive than someone landing $12,000 in 50 hours.
✅ If you write 1,000 words in 5 hours, you're more productive than writing 1,300 in 11 hours.
The secret? Focusing on the highest leverage activities that give you the best return on your time.
But here’s the catch:
🕰️ The true productivity game is about getting better results in less time. So, how do you do that?
📈 1. Prioritize the high-yield tasks.
📈 2. Eliminate the low-leverage, time-draining activities.
📈 3. Build leverage—hire, automate, or delegate.
Here’s the mindset shift you need to make:
🚀 Stop measuring success by hours worked.
🔄 Focus on leverage and how much output you can get for every unit of input.
In this game of productivity, you don’t need to work harder; you need to work smarter.
💡 What are you doing to increase your leverage and maximize your output with minimal input?
Thanks for your time & attention, the most valuable resources you have
