Oil and Gas inquiry
Hello, what would be the best way to enter into Oil and Gas? I have 3 exams done towards my 2nd Class. I am currently working in a pulp mill and would eventually like to get hours towards my 1st Class, but can only do that if my company hires me as a shift engineer. Right now I'm working as a field engineer with my 3rd. So, this only helps me get my second class. I'm 45 I don't want to wait a bazillion years to get my 1st (It's a union environment, except for supervisory positions).

What shift do you work and what do you like/dislike about it?
I've worked a few different shifts such as: - 7on/7off - rotating days and nights - Compressed 4-week cycle - 4 nights, 3 off, 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights, 3 off, 4 days, 7 off - 8 on/6 off - all day shift - 4 on/3 off - all day shift Every shift has pros and cons, but my favorite was the 7/7 shift. Pro - The ability to take a long holiday with 7 vacation days. Con - The downfall was the 7 consecutive years of working certain holidays, and the grueling 7 nights in a row. Let us know what you've worked on and what your favorite shift is. What would you change? Are there any factors restricting a change to your shift?
