Something that I see a lot of these days, is beautiful character art to advertise their stories. This feels very foreign to me, I've personally always hated when there is artwork of characters on a book cover because it's never like I imagine. But artwork to sell is another thing entirely. But that's just me, so what are your feelings on it? Do you feel commissioning art helps you? Do you enjoy it? Do you like detailed character art on book covers?

Hey, so I’m a bit of a tech novice. I’ve used ChatGPT to help create my images and book covers, and I’ve tried Canva but for some reason, I just can’t seem to get it to work the way I want. I’m totally broke right now, so hiring someone to design my book cover isn’t an option. I’m also not artistically inclined — unlike my sister, who is insanely talented. There’s nothing she can’t do creatively: making clothes, drawing, painting, designing, even creating lifelike dolls. I know that if I asked, she’d absolutely help me… but she’s so busy. She’s ten years older than me, has kids, runs a home, manages a small hobby farm, and breeds dogs. Honestly, she’s a machine and I just don’t want to add to her workload. The problem is, there’s so much criticism out there about using AI-generated covers. So… what are my options?
