Not a book but .....
As well as editing my current WIPs, I’ve been working on an Etsy shop to bring in some extra income. My most recent listings were inspired by the books I’ve written, and one idea has really captured my imagination. One of my stories is on the shorter side, and I thought—what if I turned it into a junk journal instead of publishing it in the usual way? I’ve already rewritten the first three chapters as journal-style entries and started designing the accompanying pages in Canva. I’m not sure how to describe it perfectly yet, but essentially I’m creating my first few junk journals that actually tell a story. I haven’t seen anyone else doing this, so I don’t know if it will even work—but it feels exciting and worth a try! My themes are all fantasy/dark romance - check them out if you like :-) https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/4373673840/dark-fairytale-cinderella-printable-junk?ref=listings_manager_grid https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/4373537630/dark-fantasy-halloween-junk-journal-kit?ref=listings_manager_grid https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/4373139360/junkjournal-journals-dark-romance-junk https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/4373127967/fantasy-junk-journal-printable-kit
What do people want to see on this platform??
Hi everyone, I was hoping this group would naturally grow through all of you, but I realize it might need a little extra care. I’ve been a bit quiet lately due to some personal things and simply not having the time or energy I’d like to devote but I’m still here, ready to contribute and keep things running. This space is for you as much as it is for me, and I’d love to see it come alive. What would help you participate more? Do you need specific discussion prompts, events, critique sessions, or something else entirely? I’m happy to share resources, start conversations, and help organize whatever would make this community valuable. Let me know what would inspire you to jump in!
How is everyone??
Any news updates, successes, vents, e.tc??? I have a slightly different concept im might try work8ng on for my books just not sure yet exactly how ill make it work but the Gears in my brain are spinning right now. I so wish I had more time
I am sorry I have been MIA lately
Hi everyone, I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA lately. Work has been hectic—we’re short-staffed, my workload has nearly doubled, and I’ve been coming home exhausted with zero motivation to read, write, or even hop on here. It’s just been a lot. That said, I’m thrilled to see new faces! Welcome to all our new members. Please remember: this community isn’t about me—it’s about us. I cover the fees, accept new members, and help manage things when I can, but you don’t need me to keep this space alive. Without each of you, this community wouldn’t exist at all. Thank you for keeping it thriving and for making this such a supportive place.
10 Easy Writing Tips to Boost Your Creativity & Consistency
1. Write Daily (Even Just 5 Mins) – Build the habit, not perfection. Progress > perfection. 2. Keep a “Messy Draft” Folder – Give yourself permission to write badly — first drafts are for ideas, not ego. 3. Use Prompts When Stuck – Writing prompts unlock creativity and help overcome blank page syndrome. 4. Read Like a Writer – Study structure, pacing, and dialogue in everything you read. 5. Set Small, Achievable Goals – “Write 100 words” is better than “write a novel today.” 6. Limit Distractions – Turn off notifications, close tabs, and set a timer. 7. Talk It Out – If stuck, explain your idea out loud or use voice-to-text. 8. Create a Writing Ritual – Tea, music, candles… build a vibe that tells your brain, “It’s writing time.” 9. Edit Later, Not Now – Don’t kill the flow. Save editing for a second session. 10. Use Tools That Help You Flow – Like Instant Author to guide, structure & speed up your writing.
