Most Back Pain Isn’t a “Back Problem”… It’s a Core Problem
One of the biggest misconceptions I see with new Pilates clients is this: They think their back hurts because their back is weak. But in most cases, the real issue is something else entirely - the deep core muscles aren’t doing their job. When the deep stabilisers (TA, pelvic floor, multifidus) don’t activate properly, the body starts compensating: - The lower back takes over - The hips get tight - The shoulders start working overtime And eventually… something complains. That’s why stretching alone rarely fixes chronic back pain. You can stretch every day and still feel tight if the support system isn’t working. Pilates focuses on rebuilding that support system first. Small movements. Slow control. Deep stabilisation. Then suddenly things start to change. People often tell us: "My back finally feels supported." Curious to hear from you: What bothers you the most right now? 1. Lower back pain 2. Tight hips 3. Stiff shoulders/neck 4. Weak core 5. Something else Comment with the number (or explain your situation). Let’s see what people in the community are struggling with most.
