New Guy Here – Looking to Learn from the Pros

Hey everyone! My name is Hunter, and my business partner and I are in the process of launching A&S Land Co. based in the Texas Hill Country, serving the surrounding area and South Texas. By day, I work in enterprise IT sales, and over the last several years I've also gained hands-on experience operating and working around skid steers and equipment on my family's farm. We're starting this business because we enjoy helping landowners improve their properties, with an initial focus on forestry mulching, cedar removal, pad site preparation, and ranch and land development. For now, we'll be operating on afternoons and weekends while I continue my IT career, which provides the stability to reinvest in the business and grow it the right way. We currently have access to family equipment, but we're evaluating whether to rent initially or purchase new equipment as cash flow grows. I'm joining this group to learn from those who have already built successful businesses—my goal is to soak up as much knowledge as possible, avoid rookie mistakes, and land our first job within the next 45–90 days. I appreciate any advice on equipment, pricing, estimating, marketing, or anything else you wish you had known when you were getting started. Looking forward to learning from everyone!
