CRM Choices
I'm new to the site. I've been doing jobs and buying equipment. I haven't selected a CRM yet for this business, but I'm looking at Jobber and Horizon 360 by Toro. Does anyone have thoughts either way?

@Brandon Humphrey Brandon, the three-person example is helpful. I spent more than 20 years contracting in Denver before moving to Spring Hill, Tennessee, so keeping the office and field on the same page is familiar territory. When a job changes during the day, who updates the record first so nobody is working from yesterday’s plan?
Machine Upgrade Options
Looking to upgrade my 333G. I like it up its getting up there in hrs (3400) and looking to upgrade capacity. Rented a 275XE over the weekend and that was a great machine, and have used an ASV RT135 which was a beast, but looking to see if anyone has had experience with a Lamtrac or other 150hp+ machines and if they are even that much better. The difference in my 100hp 333G and 135hp RT135 was astounding, I cant imagine what adding another 15-20hp on top of that would be, especially if it was deleted and tuned....

Carl, what work made the RT135 feel like such a big step up from your Deere: larger material, finishing the same area faster, or something else? I spent more than 20 years in general contracting in Denver, and I'm now in Spring Hill, Tennessee. I'd be interested in the actual job difference behind the horsepower numbers. Where are you working out of?
Business Cards
Does anyone still do business cards? I just started 10 days ago and wanted to order some to cards to give to customers, material yards, etc. Now I that I'm thinking about it I could not remember the last time I was offered a card. I feel like a lot of people are doing QR codes now and was wondering if anyone has bought a personal metal business card with a QR code for the customer to scan rather than to take and if y'all saw a better return on it.

Luke, I spent more than 20 years in general contracting in Denver and am now in Spring Hill, Tennessee. I would think about the material yard separately from meeting a customer: a card left at the counter can still be passed along after you leave, while a metal card needs someone to scan it while you are there. I have not tested which gives a better return. Where do you expect most of these conversations to happen?
Hey everyone
My name is Thomas and I own Wright Management Solutions L.L.C. We’re based out of Maryland. I’m still in the rental phase but I know eventually I’m going to have to buy a setup of my own. I’m torn between Deere and Cat I’ve heard great things about both, but not so much about the ugly. What’s the comparison between the Deere 333p and 335p and the Cat 275xe Lm 1 or 2 and the 285xe Lm 1 or 2. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Thomas, what have you been renting so far, and what has frustrated you most about it? That would help make the comparison more concrete. I would also be interested to hear the owners here compare local service turnaround when a machine is down; a spec sheet does not tell that part of the story.
Advice please! - Marketing blitz this saturday
Me and pops are renting a Bobcat T770 with Fecon head this saturday. We have 4 friends that we will be clearing brush for FREE (about an hour of work at each), in exchange for reviews, video interviews, and as much footage as we can get. We plan to shoot as many different video ad variations that we can get (me, my dad, different backgrounds, different apparel, different messages, etc) in order to stock up enough footage to last through the winter and be able to put up fresh ads. But we also intend to capture as much footage as possible for posting through the winter. PLEASE DUMP ALL THE IDEAS/ADVICE YOU HAVE FOR ME ON WHAT TYPE OF CONTENT WE SHOULD BE AIMING FOR. Here is the setup: -1 operator (my dad) -2 camera operators (me and my friend) -1 drone with 4k (can only fly for 20 minutes at a time) -1 hi-res Cannon camera w/ tripod -3 iPhones for shooting content The obvious ideas so far: -timelapse -before/after photos -post-job interviews with customer -drone before/after photos -drone footage of machine mulching -footage of loading/unloading the machine from the trailer -footage of pre-job site walk with customer -ad footage with machine working in the background WHAT AM I MISSING HERE? WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

Hey Justin, I spent 20 years as a general contractor in Denver, so the before-and-after part caught my eye. One thing I'd want the customer to explain on camera is what they can do with the property now that they couldn't do before. That gives the clearing a purpose beyond watching the machine work. How did the Saturday shoot go with you and your dad?

Glad the shoot produced footage you can actually use, Justin. Having someone whose only job is filming sounds like the lesson to carry into the next one. Now that the ad is bringing enquiries, which part is getting people to call: the machine working, the before-and-after, or hearing the property owner explain the difference?
