🎓 2026 Thomas G. Flanagan, S.C. Scholarship - Now Accepting Applications (Ottawa)
The Ottawa Police Service is now accepting applications for the 2026 Thomas G. Flanagan S.C. Scholarship Award.
Established in 1993 in memory of former Ottawa Police Chief Thomas G. Flanagan (1989–1993), this annual $2,000 scholarship supports Indigenous and racialized women who are pursuing post-secondary education with aspirations of a career in policing.
“This scholarship represents more than financial support—it’s a commitment to creating a police service that reflects the diversity of the community we serve,” said Staff Sgt. Lila Shibley from the Ottawa Police Recruiting Team. “We’re proud to empower Indigenous and racialized women to pursue their ambitions in policing and to bring their voices and perspectives into our service.”
🔹 Who should apply?
You may be a strong candidate if you:
  • Identify as a woman from a racialized or Indigenous community
  • Are interested in becoming a police officer with the Ottawa Police Service
  • Are pursuing (or planning to pursue) post-secondary education
  • Are motivated to make a positive impact in your community
