A little trick I was taught that works on finger style guitars and vocals also when recording. Double the track and set one track .15 milliseconds to the positive and set the other .15 milliseconds to the negative. PAN one slightly to the left and the other slightly to the right. This will give you a nice thick sound without using any effects.
