Does an LLC prevent getting sued

I wanted to get everyone's opinion. I was told I should keep my LLC so no clients can sue me personally, although I haven't any clients to worry about that. Do you think that is true? I have to pay 300 by 4/15 if I want to keep it. Meanwhile I owe the IRS $3,848 that we have to make payments on and going to end up owing g them more since it won't be paid off until after 4/15
