When you marry, you both will change.
The person you say "I do" to today won't be the exact same person 10, 20 years from now.. and neither will you. That's not a bad thing. That's just life.
So when you're evaluating someone, don't get too attached to the things that are guaranteed to shift:
❌ Looks change.
❌ Careers change.
❌ Preferences change.
❌ Even personalities soften, sharpen, or evolve with age and life experience.
What you should really be paying attention to is:
1️⃣ Their relationship with Allah... not performative religiosity, but a real, sincere connection with their deen. This is what shapes how they handle hardship, temptation, and responsibility over time.
2️⃣ Their character.. how they treat people when no one's watching. How they speak to their mother. How they treat someone who can't do anything for them. How they handle being wrong.
Because when life gets hard (and it will), it's not their salary or their looks that will hold your marriage together.
It's their deen. It's their character.
That's what doesn't break under pressure.
💬 What's one character trait you consider non-negotiable in a spouse?
